You guys are getting confused with two very different things. Mineral deal =/= ceasefire or Russia negotiations.
Of course if he actually did say he wants to negotiate with Russia yesterday then please provide me the link.
It isn't that simple, though. The mineral deal(s) is/are wrapped up in security guarantees, security guarantees will be a big part of peace negotiations. The lines have been blurred intentionally.

There was no security guaranty, it’s just flawed logic of “well if we have Americans doing business there, then they won’t attack”.
Zelensky actually pointed this out when he noted there were plenty of America businesses operating in Eastern Ukraine when it was invaded.

There is a security guarantee in the deal Zelensky made with the UK. The guarantee is an implied one with the wording of the mineral deal with the US, which is a concession Z made with the original negotiations of the deal.

An implied guarantee is not a guarantee. This is just very basic contract stuff. If it’s not explicitly written there then it’s as good as not there as it can always be argued “well they interpreted things wrong” to get out of things.
