Hell of a lot cheaper to detain them than it is to let them in...
You still have no idea how any of this works... "the generals" are not in charge... This is NOT a military operation just because troops are deployed...

Not a bad idea. This in combination with non-lethal means (tear gas, rubber bullets, etc.) first, then shoot any 15+ males and process women and children who persist beyond that. I also hold Mexico to account for letting them pass through unencumbered.

It doesn't matter. There is a President who will give orders to someone to execute. The point of my question is not who does the executing or what it is or isn't, my question was what orders do you give as POTUS.

Use choke points to funnel them into a few small areas where their numbers can’t be used against you easily, then start making it clear that anyone crossing will be detained and anyone attempting to be overrun will be shot.
I really don’t want that last part but the way they busted through the Mexico-Guatemala border means that drastic measures may be required.

That is key. Mexico should be advised that if they can't handle their business that directly threatens and burdens us, then we'll step in and handle it.
Cartel Leadership - or even Mexican Cartel puppets - should be fair game. Drones, SEAL hit teams, etc. Outside of this, it'll only get worse.

Do what's worked for the decades these migrant caravans have been approaching our borders asking for asylum.
Let the processes in place sort it out.

If they claim asylum they get a hearing. So build some camps, bring them in for the hearing.
Keep family units together inside the camps.
After hearing deport those who dont deserve asylum. Those that do deserve it STAY IN THE CAMP.
These people are not fleeing violence or repression. If that were the case they would have taken Mexico up on the offer to live there. They are coming here for jobs and to send money back home. They cant do that from inside a camp.
Republicans definitely need to use this caravan as a means to hold the house and gain seats in senate. Then build the wall with funds from a 50% tax on remittances south of our country.
