Because I'm not currently paying for my future social security. I am paying for other people's social security, and I don't believe social security will be solvent by the time I reach retirement age. I will receive nothing of what I put in, and therefore I don't want to pay anything else into social security.

You didn't pay for my college. I paid for my college. How it should be.

Right. And I don’t want to pay property taxes on public schools I will never use.

Younger generations in the U.S., including millennials and Gen Zers, are much more likely to believe that the Social Security system needs reforming than those in their 60s and 70s, according to a recent survey conducted by Redfield & Wilton Strategies on behalf of Newsweek.

But yet they want universal healthcare. A real government cost saver there.

You know one reason there is a large problem with SS?

There are a lot of people who are pre retirement age that don’t work…. But they still eat.

Let’s reform that first.

What's Trump's plan on SS?

To try and get Congress off its arse. Why do you ask?

That's not Trump's plan for social security.

Trump's plan for social security is to get rid of FICA and pay benefits from the general fund, thus fricking over the 55% of us that pay income taxes to the benefit of the 45% that don't pay income taxes but do pay FICA.

It's progressive as hell, but then again Trump superfans don't give a shite about that as long as he throws awesome rallies.

No, I will thank the greedy selfish Boomers (who btw my generation is paying for all their Entitlements and handouts) who are going to bankrupt SS and Medicare.

Well, you're stupid. It's the younger generations that have ushered in the liberal jihad that has ushered in 80% of the bullshite.

Ok, so what's your age group? Tell me that and I'll tell you what sort of policies your generation typically votes for. You're the one who's trying to make this a generational pissing contest for some odd reason.

Why is it a Ponzi scheme? I mean I paid into it for may years and then I got old enough to draw from it?

Because the money you've paid into it has been used to pay out benefits for existing recipients. Your money is long gone. If you are to receive SSI disbursements in the future, they will come from the SS taxes paid by the workforce at that time. These things work great until the disbursements outgrow the taxes being taken in...much like a ponzi scheme.

Young Americans Turn Against Boomers Over Social Security
How do you get "turning against boomers" from an opinion poll that says a majority believe social security needs to be reformed?

Your link says even 50% of the boomers polled agreed SS needs reform.

Fake News much??

No one who supported Obamacare should be taken seriously when they complain about SS.

Social security is a total fraud on the American people and it always was. It is in no way any type of insurance or guarantee. It is a tax that is dumped directly into the treasury to be spent however the government likes. The idea that there ever was a trust fund is laughable, but even if there was, it’s all gone now. When you pay into social security, you are not pooling with others to cover yourself, in fact, you’re getting way less than you’ve paid into. Take into account inflation since the 30s, and you’re getting criminally ripped off. Never mind that it won’t even be available for my generation and we’re forced to keep paying the tax.

SS is a tax that is put into an imaginary "Trust Fund." That fund pays considerably less interest than the rate of inflation. It's skimming scheme.

Blame democrats for not privatizing social security when the Dow was at 12k like republicans wanted to.

Yep. Prior to Biden, inflation averaged about 4% over the previous 40 years while SS paid interest on the "Trust Fund" of around 2%. That's a negative return on investment, but for government it has been a blue light bargain on interest rates.

Must be nice to be on a Government Entitlement program. I won't ever know what that is like. It's nothing to brag about either.

That's very possible; I've never included SS in any retirement planning. If I get it there's a strong possibility we'll punish success and I'll be means tested.

The point I was making is that any generation close to retirement age is going to be more cautious about reforming their benefits. It has nothing to do with the fact that they're Boomers; if SS is still around people will be writing articles about how young Americans are turning against Gen Z because Gen Z is more resistant to SS reforms than they are.
