You reap what you sow: douchebag staff at The Ringer unionizes against Bill Simmons

Hire a staff of 26 yr old douchebags and communists and you get you deserve.
(though if Simmons and HBO (which partially owns the company) don't even have a fricking 401K plan that's ridiculous)
But apparently the morons there want racial/gender quotas as well.
From Deadspin, which I won't link:

From Deadspin, which I won't link:

The editorial staff of The Ringer announced this morning that they have formed a union with the WGA East. In their letter of intent, Ringer staffers said they want to negotiate with management for improvements in areas such as compensation, benefits, severance, diversity, and the establishment of a 401k program. Now they just have to wait and see if they will be voluntarily granted a seat at the bargaining table.
Before the collective bargaining process can begin, the union must be officially recognized by management. In a Twitter thread announcing their organizing effort, Ringer employees made it clear that they expect their union to be recognized:

Replying to @RingerUnion
We're proudly standing with the thousands of other digital professionals in the media, podcasting, and video worlds who have recently organized. We're stronger together!
quote:
Ringer Union
@RingerUnion
We hope that The Ringer will recognize our union so we can begin the collective-bargaining process and start working toward a more equitable company.

I'm one of the more pro-union guys you'll come across, but for a bunch of digital media staff? LMAO, have fun with that, Bill.
Isn't it ironic?

Portnoy going full troll is simply on of the best things I've seen recently. The Cortez response is even more gold.

I bet Bill regrets his heel turn into a lib now.

Past 24 hrs have been amazing on Twitter. Even the WaPo got duped

When Simmons brought over all those pop culture reporter douches he should have expected this

they want racial quotas but do they not realize that some of them will have to be fired to make the quota work. They are not going to hire X # of extra people to make the current staff have racial #s they like. They are going to fire current workers and hire new ones.

Sounds easy. Management should just refuse to recognize the unionization. Put out a statement that they will investigate the feasibility of company wide programs such as 401k, but many items, such as compensation, are individually negotiated between employer and employee based on individual merit and not as a collective. None of our employees are being coerced to work here. If they feel they are treated unfairly or unjustly, then they are welcome to learn to code.

Voluntary recognition of a union is a show of good faith from management, and also the bare minimum amount of respect a boss can show to his or her employees after they’ve decided to unionize. A refusal to recognize a union is not only a shameless stalling tactic—one recently deployed by Buzzfeed’s Jonah Peretti, who wanted to haggle over which employees should be allowed to be in the union—but also an indication that management doesn’t value its employees enough to agree to collectively bargain with them. Without voluntary recognition, a union has to win a secret-ballot election conducted by the National Labor Relations Board in order to begin bargaining. All bosses are sticklers at the negotiating table, but only the worst bosses refuse to willingly pull up a chair in the first place.
this is what you call "NPC language"

I resent Bill Simmons becoming an NPC leftist and really enjoy the fact that he has to choose one of these two horrifying (to him) options:
1. Taking far less credit than he deserves (he IS the ringer and he IS the greatest internet sports media icon in history) by bowing to some talentless, sniveling little hacks who are so easily replaceable
2. Look like the raging greedy a-hole and lose all his phony millennial street cred and "friends" hes spent the last 6 or 7 years chasing
He is a huge coward so he'll definitely choose option 1. I hope it gnaws at him for the rest of his career.

Out of every person who became a leftist, Simmons doing so sucked the most. He was go to reading for me for almost 10y....I pretty much stopped reading him within 2-3 weeks once POTUS Trump announced his candidacy.
He is the son of a a blue collar dad in Boston...he wrote the most beautiful patriotic articles about the USA and Sports. I don't know how he reconciles what he is doing now with what he was like in his earlier life. obviously money is a helluva drug.......BUT....
He would have still been rich if he stayed true to his roots.
I don't know why he made such a fricked up choice......

I would convince everyone that a union is a good idea then scab my way to an executive role.

What the wire season 2 teaches us about unions and where we go from here ?

Matt Drudge's dramatic turn against Trump has sucked the most for me.
I would put Simmons at #2 and Bill Maher at #3. Maher was never nonpartisan, but his common sense on Islam and PC culture more than made up for it to me. Now he's anti-Trump and not much else

I hated that SOB Maher.
He was and has always been a bully......He was an atheist bully back in the day and even had hard core leftists pissed off at his atheist views....
He fricks like a rabbit (nothing necessarily wrong with that) , hangs out with Epstein, Playboy Mansion but then preaches others about how to live their lives .........while he lives his like a parasite

The interesting thing for me is that out of the people you mention, SImmons is the most likely to be fricked over by the karma police....
he has no allies on the left or the right and it will take one little screwup to end him.....once the Left throws him away, the right will never take him back....
like what happened to Megan Kelly
