Each generation has its problems and struggles. You have to make your own success through competency and hard work.

The only thing companies truly gain from H-1B engineers is a lower bill and an employee who can’t easily leave.
They pay most of them 64k as required by law, and no more. I worked with more than 10 that hadn't received a pay rise in a decade.
Their communications skills are shite. They're not proactive, in any way, at all. They use two of them to replace a Citizen that makes 3x or more. Nevermind the fact that I can do the work of 11 H1Bs working 40 hours a week in 10 hours.
I work for one of the primary companies that displaces US Citizens with H1Bs, and they're fricking awful to all employees. H1Bs just take it (relocate from Michigan to Houston for a project with a newborn on two weeks notice, to maybe be repaid within 12-16 weeks, yeah, that's my company.)

So let’s make it harder by bringing in more people to take roles from people that followed the right path and went to college? Are you saying that graduates from college that work their way through school aren’t working hard? We lack competency as well because now we have to battle with immigrants for low paying jobs?

quote:So you make 3 times what they pay an H1B but you can do the work of 11 working 40 while you do it in 10. That math doesn't work. You are more efficient to the tune of 440 hours to 10. Prove me wrong.

You can have a victim mindset or you can be resilient. If you have talent and competency, you will be able to find a job. It may not be your preferred job but the experience you gain will set you up for future success.

It’s really not that hard to find a job. Young people are just lazy and don’t want to work, thus it made H-1B necessary.

Engineers are not supposed to use AI as a tool?
AI gives wrong answers. Didn't they learn engineering in school? apparently not

When I run the project, it takes 8 weeks. When H1Bs "run" the project it takes a year. I'm dealing with that shite, yet again, on another client right now. I've already sent out a warning message to these idiots to not reply to all because they're too socially unaware to realize that the CTO and the CIO are in the CC line.
I'm cagey about the pay difference for a reason, because I'm not one of the dumbasses that provides enough information to connect my screen name to my real life. But glad to see you didn't dispute anything else I said.
11 H1Bs accomplished, in seven months, what should have been done in weeks (I won't specify the number of weeks, should you pull out your calculator) by anyone competent. But they're cheap.

quote:Either you are saying it differently or I am misunderstanding you but your whole premise for using H1Bs is to save labor costs yet you can do in 2 months what it takes 11 H1Bs a year to do. And that's just the project management side of it (which I would submit as a very small part of the overall cost of a project) right?
