re: YETI Cancels Order After Learning It's for Conservative Women's Group

Being way overpriced is an interesting marketing idea. They sell to women who buy it for two reasons:
a. If it's overpriced it must be much better than others.
b. I want to show how high class I am.
This is the way the female mind works.
Apple
Yeti
Traeger
Pelaton
Etc.
Etc.
They all sell a "lifestyle", and morons pay a premium for it despite having comparable options on the market at a significantly lower price point. It is but one reason Americans carry so much debt.

Ozark Trails is basically the same as Yeti at a third the price. Yeti actually sued to stop the manufacture but lost in court.

Didn’t they sue and lose to Arctic as well?

I agree we're over leveraged, but it's worth noting that all of these were the originator in their space on a mainstream level.
I don't take issue with someone choosing RTIC over YETI, but I do think it's somewhat unhealthy to act like people should always opt for the subsequent players that relied heavily on the company that either invented the product or took the bigger risk by taking a niche item into the mainstream. I don't know much about Traeger, but Yeti, Peloton and Apple make very good products whether you like the companies or not (and most of their competition that have ridden their coattails are at best matching the standard they set).
Apple is entirely different, too. Like it or not, it's a totally separate tech ecosystem with its own flaws and advantages.
As for this dispute, I've not seen anyone make the case that Yeti's basis ("we don't do in house stuff with our label to explicitly political groups") is false. And if Yeti has consistently applied that, I don't know why anyone would care much.

RTIC settled with Yeti on the IP infringement claim and had to stop making certain things, as I understand it.

How bout just the fact I don’t need my Ice to last 5 days.
Gimmick BS.

quote:I do not buy Yeti products. However, this is just more Chinese theft by Walmart. Take a successful product, copy it, make it in China for pennies on the dollar and then drive the competition away that originated the design. Yeti makes theirs in Iowa and Wisconsin (except for tumblers).
Ozark Trails brand coolers are basically the same as Yeti at a third the price. Yeti actually sued to stop the manufacture but lost in court.
My guess is that 30 years from now, a Yeti cooler will be still highly useful while the Ozark Trails cooler will have been tossed in the garbage heap.

Yeti is a great product and the warranty is part of the price. You can boycott them for whatever reason but to say they are overpriced crap is nonsense.
It’s a pretty clear example of overpriced because of the available substitutes for far less. It’s not crap, it’s good quality but the utility can matched for 20-50% of the cost easily.

Dont they sell a $50 five gallon bucket?
You're exaggerating. It's only $40.
Lid not included but it's available for another $30.
$70 for a complete 5 gallon bucket.

quote:The only way I could justify this is if I'm deep sea fishing or on a elk excursion and away from ice for a few days. Fill it with ice and never open it. 99.99% of ice chests are not used that way. It's senseless overkill.

I have several Lifetime coolers from Wally World and have been very pleased. Got a couple of big ones for aging deer and they hold ice for 7 days.

Orca coolers used to be made in America not sure if they are anymore. Really like my lidup one I got from them like a decade ago.

I've never seen a Yeti.
Dont know anyone who owns one. These outdoor baws are far more practical.

Everyone should've seen this coming. Yeti showed their asses after Kyle Rittenhouse, and true patriots shouldn't have given them a dime since then.

Yeti is all over the Gulf Coast. Way over valued. It's for the guys who hold their beer so everyone can see what they are drinking.

Yeah, guys here buy the cheaper stuff from walmart, etc because bears tear shite up and the mountains are rough on gear.
I have seen a yeti sticker though. Also had a "salt life" tag on the truck, figured it was a transplant.
Ive seen a 800 lb brown bear destroy a cooler in seconds. With 8 beautiful silver salmon inside..
