Being a Christian or labeling oneself as a Christian has lost all meaning in this present world. Sadly, Christians for the most part are barely distinguishable from their secular counterparts.
I think most people just don't think very deeply about the implications of their beliefs (this goes for atheists as well). I know plenty of genuine 100% faith in God Christians who find the idea of Christianity being false unthinkable who also believe things completely incompatible with a Christian worldview. Are they not true Christians? I would say they simply haven't thought things through all the way to their logical conclusion.
I think in many cases people have each of their beliefs in seperate boxes and don't realize the conflicting and often mutually exclusive nature of those beliefs. The example I like to use is those who believe in mainstream geology and biblical innerancy. Those are mutually exclusive beliefs, they CANNOT both be true. Yet many Christians don't question either.

Hell yeah. Adam Carolla would make for a great President. You'd love him.

Depends upon who he/she is running against. I voted for DJT because he was not Hillary Clinton. I still believe DJT is an atheist. I mean does he go to church on Sunday? Prolly not. You may disagree with me, but I see a direct correlation between a persons religious views (as practiced) and their moral decision making process. Furthermore, I've always held the opinion the most dangerous leader is one that holds a conservative posture on fiscal issues and liberal views on social issues.
In speaking against religion it was Vladimir Lenin (1870-1924)the communist leader of Russia who said, "Religion is an opiate of the people." Under Atheistic Communism millions of people were killed or sent to gulags never to be seen again by their loved ones. After suffering a series of strokes Lenin died on 21 January 1924, But before he died he said this on his deathbed, "I have deluded myself. Without a doubt, it was necessary to free the oppressed masses. However, our methods resulted in oppressions and gruesome massacres. You know I am deathly ill, I feel lost in an ocean of blood formed by countless victims. This was necessary to save our Russia, but it is too late to turn back. We would need ten Francis of Assisi."
My faith teaches me that when choosing between two morally corrupt candidates, I will always (if possible) vote for the one I perceive to be less corrupt. In the last election it was clear to me Hillary Clinton was the most morally bankrupt (and dangerous) of the two. I voted for DJT.
In the meantime I pray for Donald J. Trump and our country. You should too.

Religion plays 0 part in who I am going to vote for except a muslim. I do not believe they can separate their religion from their political life and the Muslim religion is antithetical to the American way of life.

Jimmy Carter was the last true, practicing Christian POTUS. He walked the walk.

They write that when politicians remind people that they are religious, they are playing on Americans’ bias towards trusting and favoring the religious.
Key word "playing", hopefully we quit falling for it, but odds are we will....

I wouldn't care, as long as he/she wasn't one of those atheists that has to tell everyone constantly about their atheism or one of those atheists that holds Christianity in the same regard as Islam.
Do you also avoid voting for Christians who have to tell everyone constantly about their Christianity?

Bush is pretty devout, though he definitely didn't make religion as much a part of his day to day life as Carter did.

Christianity is not a religion. If one doesn't understand this you need to dig a little deeper.

I'll give you that and that walk is what left 52 hostages in Iran for 444 days.

Expound?

Absolutely. As an Atheist, I couldn't care less what the religion of another person is when running for office. I care about their qualifications, their commitment and their ability to perform the task at hand. I want the best person for the job, not the one that practices a certain religion or no religion at all.

Obviously, you're not a Libertarian?
