So do you. When I worked remotely I figured I saved $5-6K a year......gas, tolls, lunch, clothing, vehicle maintenance, etc.

With bells on. I've been remote if I'm not at a client site for almost 20 years. I don't find it hard to focus, even with young kids in the house, with the exception of getting them ready for school. But all I did was block my calendar until 20 minutes after they got on the bus.

There are the kinds of people that think if a phone is ringing it must be answered. I'm not that guy. If you walk by a dirty sock and suddenly decide it's time to clean the bathroom or something, you should probably relocate to a barracks.

I've worked remote since 1995. It has its positives and negatives. Mostly positives and I care zip about corporate culture and office friendships.

Working remotely sucks. There is no separation btwn your job and your home.

This is just another way that Big Business / Big Tech is trying to enslave you. They’re taking over where you live. You will own nothing. And you will like it.

Talk about dramatic

I no longer work but it would have been impossible for me to do my job from home. I had meetings every day, pretty much. So it doesn't matter what kind of pay cut I was offered I wouldn't if I could. Now once I retired from that job, I did consulting work which was a mix of travel/onsite work and interaction with hospital staff and stay home/work from home building/testing computer stuff.

I would because I am about to retire. Not sure how I could do most of my job from home though.

I just realized I am literally making tree fiddy and working about half remote.

Worked remote most of my life. Did not have to take a pay cut.

Your average worker is not disciplined enough to work remote.

A generation of workers that clearly haven’t experienced a really bad nation wide recession.

After working from home for a while, I will never go back to commuting and working in an office for the rest of my life.

Actually doing your job is not the point.

You work remote so you don't have to do your job and no one will know.

Probably not as many as you think.

They just don't care. That's the difference.

the improvement in my work life balance is definitely positive...I'm able to accomplish small things around the house between meetings and focus time.

This is the point. Someone's "work-life balance" and being able to do personal things instead of work things. Not actual work.
