No. They can't. I think someone working full time should be able to though.
They can if they make good decisions.

This isn't really complicated at all.

The work ethic anymore is downright pathetic. My parents had twins - my brother and myself at age 18. They didn't ask for handouts. They busted their asses off. My dad somehow worked full time and went to school. I am thankful they showed the fortitude that seems missing today. We got involved in sports and we worked part time during high school. That gave us discipline. Sorry for "ranting" but the damn pussification of America sickens me.

The fact 11 people upvoted this nonsense is incredibly disheartening.

We also live in a a country wher poor people are overweight, have cable TV playing through flatscreens, and mobile phones. I’m the end it’s all about choices and we have a sect of people that don’t believe in personal responsibility.

Understand who most of these people adore and idolize, the things they hold dear and what they believe makes life meaningful.

Now, look at what they watch on TV, the music they listen to, the friends they keep, the parents that didn’t have a positive influence in their upbringing and you’ll find nearly all the answers you’re looking for as to why they are struggling in life.

If i only made minimum wage it would be by choice because I had no ambition. I made minimum wage one month if my life when I was 16. There is no excuse for any working adult to make minimum wage.

In any case, if I did make minimum wage I would go back to a smalll down in the American south where I could by a decent house for 60k 400/mo with low property taxes. People are lazy and stupid and expect to have everything for doing nothing.

People in the financial and medical sectors are vastly overpaid because they own the market, everybody needs money and wants to live, but you can live a decent life on minimum wage if you can somehow figure out how to make that little.

Some people are dumb as rocks. Just the way it is. They should be able to be a janitor and raise a family. Just my opinion.

Janitors make relatively good money.

Anyone staying at one job more than a year will make more than minimum wage.

What do you suggest?

I hate to tell you chief, this scenario has played out probably a million times or more and people survived. They didn't starve, didn't need gubment intervention and didn't need the nanny state to help.

lack of empathy

The overall lack of empathy around here for poverty is startling when you consider a number of posters participating in this very thread statistically:

-Don't have significant savings/net worth
-A job loss would require begging for debt relief
-Currently couldn't fund their own retirement

Make no mistake...some are one misstep away and they would be looking for help just like those they criticize.

I love this. Not wanting a huge welfare state and high min wage = lack of empathy.

Perfect example of the modern day Dem. party and their terrible view.

Like the 21yo ferry operator who gets on here and tries to preach to someone almost twice their age about how to build wealth? Couldn't agree more.

It's part of this whole faux-machismo aura of the alt-right. There are a whole lot of insecurities built into that ethos. That people vote, preach, and act against their own self-interests in order to create a facade of machismo is perhaps the most 'cuck' behavior conceivable.
