With oil prices this low, why aren’t we buying up for the strategic reserve?

I would not mind the Government buying a couple trillion dollars worth.

Then selling in 30 months at a profit to offset some of the stimulus.

Question for the O&G folks: is the SPR limited to what types of oil it can accept? (In terms of actual types it can hold, that is)

it was in the stimulus bill but Pelosi had it pulled. since then Trump said he would find a way around and buy the oil for the reserve.

Very good question and more than likely yes. You can’t mix certain crudes together and all crudes are different. You certainly would purchase says Middle East crudes over stuff out of Venezuela, Russia, or Egypt

It holds both sweet (low sulphur) and sour (higher sulphur) crude oils of many different types both domestic and foreign.

Many different crude oils are commingled (combined) in storage into the two broad categories.
