I just don't think you can have that sort of exception. Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but how in the world would they prove that? Claim you were raped, get an abortion. What is the abortion clinic going to do? Call you a liar? #metoo

I don't see a practical way to have an exception like that in this type of law.

How? How can you legitimately enforce a rape exception without undermining the rest of the ban?

Who cares how often does it happen? It happens and bills like these only harm the victims

Rape kits are a thing you know. Also by that logic let's legalize rape because there's no way to tell if the girl is lying

It's weird that we don't want the death penalty for rapists but we want the death penalty for the innocent life created from it.

Leniency for the rapist, death penalty without a second thought for the baby created from it.

Abortion is progressive, the death penalty is barbaric. God bless America.

How does that prove that someone was raped?

congratulations. You've just stated the most absurd thing i've read all day. I never said you can't prove rape. I merely asked how would it be feasible to have that type of exception. Would the victim have to actually have her assailant convicted of rape then to be approved for the abortion? What if the he was acquitted?

The abortion clinic isn't a court room. It is a simple question that a couple have dodged so far. If you have an exception for rape in this law, how is that enforced? I honestly don't have an idea, but was open to a differing opinion. Instead you just went to the absurd.

When it comes to rape exceptions, what is typically the standard of proof? The woman's word alone? Couldn't just any woman say "Oh I was raped" to get an abortion? Does she have to file a police report? Like what is the standard of 'proof' for substantiating her claim that her pregnancy is the result of rape?

My question as well. People seem unwilling to provide an answer.

So, if your sister is raped by an AIDS-infected junky with family history of mental problems, ultrasounds have already picked up problems in the first 8 weeks, and the father has threatened to kill her if she has the baby, you are still against it?

Yes.

Rape is a very tough one for me. Incest is not, unless we agree that the two consensual partners should be killed as well. A special exception for incest only encourages incest. Do we really want to do that?

I'm not sure why anyone who believes life begins at conception would want to provide exceptions for certain conceptions. If God chose to create a life, who are we to decide which lives are worthy of protection?

The basic argument is that the woman didn't choose to have sex, so she should be allowed to choose to end the life of the embryo.

In other words, if you are a slut, you have to live with the consequences, but we will provide exceptions for good girls. It's just typical religious folks being judgmental.

If the girl can prove via an actual courtroom that she was raped and the baby is from the rapist she 100% should be able to get an abortion.

This law goes way too far in efforts for a total ban
