Will One Team One Heartbeat fracture over political issues

One of the hallmarks of LSU rising to championship status has been the team and staff bonding under Coach O's famous One Team One Heartbeat slogan. Could recent comments by K'lavon Chaisson and Ryan Clark signal this bond may be starting to unravel over political issues. While Chaisson is a former player no doubt he remains close to his former teammates and we may begin to see current players join him with their sentiments.

The BLM movement might factor into this as the major sports rosters are predominantly black and the issue of putting players health at risk will mirror Chaisson's comments that social injustice is manifesting itself in the push for the games to be played at the risk to predominantly black athletes.

We saw how quickly a team can turn on its own with the Saints and Drew Brees. Then we saw Coach Mike Gundy at Oklahoma State be forced to apologize and beg forgiveness from his players for nothing more than wearing a T shirt from a network that shows objectivity instead of being a left wing sycophantic mouthpiece. When his star player still threatened to not play Gundy had to take a pay cut .

These comments from Chaisson and the recent comment from Joe Burrow could be harbingers of things to come. We are seeing self centered athletes who seem to to embrace only that which satisfies their own momentary need without seeing the larger picture. Things may begin to get interesting if the SEC does not cancel fall sports.

I think LSU football is going to mostly fine for two reasons: (1) Coach O is apolitical as far as I can tell--see his commercials with JBE and positive comments about both JBE and Trump, and (2) our longstanding traditional pregame has the national anthem played before the players run onto the field.

Players had the option to attend the White House to meet trump. They all did except Clyde I believe.

Easier to get to the top than it is to stay on top...

This BLM bullshite just creates more distractions and distractions make it difficult to focus on the task of winning a NC, so it won't help...

The good news, is pretty much every team will have to deal with it but some teams will deal with it better than others...

This is what the left is hoping for.

Many of these kids have been groomed for this, and now they are willing to destroy everything they have for it. As you can see, it really doesn't matter at all the character of the person they are attacking.

This is another big win for leftists in their quest to divide us and destroy something else we hold dear. Too bad the players are too short sighted to see what can happen to their sport if they keep it up.

Very true. And based on point one if anyone brings up the fact the Coach O praised Trump he can simply reply that he doesn't follow politics that much but he supports all of our leaders to do well for our state and country and just leave it there.

True, but now that Coach O has become the face of college football due to his personality, unique candidness and his success he will receive more opportunities to make statements that some may oppose.

Don't blink.

If he's half the H.C. he thinks he is, he'll tell this team that, we play football and are students. You either do those 2 things or you can hit the portal or find a new path to success or failure.

They're biting the hand that feeds them. Will not end well for the players or universities. But the universities have become too dependent on football money anyway.

Isn't there an informal players council from college football teams who are discussing these issues. Not all of the players are going to have Coach O or Saban's damn the torpodeos full speed ahead mentality. Let see how it plays out but we are starting to see the first volleys. Former players , especially a year or two out of school still have influence over former teammates.

If it’s fractured over, “I love it, I love President Trump, he treated us very well at the WH and love what he’s doing”, then there wasn’t much of One Team One Heart this year.

Context: he was asked about Trumps input in CFB.

Ryan Clark needs to be pushed in his passive aggressive tweet. What exactly did O say that offended you so much...be very specific and keep Context of the conversation in Os interview.

Also, what “changes” do you want in the boot, be specific.

People need to get out of there FEELS and realize, you can respect and disagree on issues.

Example: I support Black people...I 1000% denounce BLM organization. It’s actually very simple Concept to understand and follow.

This. You can't give in to a bunch of clueless troublemakers like Chaisson. Just look at Brees. He had to grovel for 6 weeks for simply saying he would never disrespect the flag and country which his ancestors fought to defend.

You didn't say anything wrong, Coach O. Don't cave like Brees or Gundy.

This post kind of feels like a "Tiger Rant" subject.

I guess it's a hybrid. Maybe a separate politics in sports category is needed.

If only the sports could be sports again.

College football is going the way of NFL and NBA. I'd much rather watch real student-athletes play who want to be in school and play for their school than the minor league it has become

When he does cave, remember that he has pressure from above that Brees really did not have...

Chaisson is being selfish. 1 year ago he would be doing everything in his power to play.

No football last year costs Chaisson millions, and a guy like Burrow a job.

Now that he’s made it he could care less if his backups receive the same opportunity, and will lobby against it if it means getting a dig in against trump

Yesterday, he told players that they come first. It they don’t feel comfortable playing this year or they have family to take care of, and they’ll still have eligibility left, that they should leave, take care of themselves, and come back next year ready to compete. LSU has already had least one player opt out due to family illness.
