Mass transit is good for the environment and a good way for people to get around who don't have the means.

I don't think what the Times/Atlantic crowd thinks of religious conservatives in the SE is much of a mystery. Bitter people, clinging to their guns and religion.........

Leachers shouldn’t be assisted at all. Might want to check which region(s) receives the most government assistance.

Maybe you should check.

You DIMS sure aren't able to research and verify things.

Instead you spew Liberal talking points that are always wrong.

That's why your party is known as the dumb party regardless of education.

Notwithstanding your divergence of opinion with the post at issue, I can't help but think that if I were in the company of a handful of "average" New Yorkers, and I suggested that Louisiana was as much (or more) a cultural center of America than is New York (or Massachusetts, etc), I feel confident I'd be excoriated and mocked for such a suggestion. I acknowledge that I could be completely off the mark on that though. Just gut feeling.

You mean the people not dying like rats in a sinking ship? You motherfrickers went out for a month tongue kissing Chinese people because your liberal mayor said so and now you are all scared that you caught bat flu. Keep your asses at home in your tiny hovels and take your lumps.

I don't live in NY. It's just funny seeing the armpit of America passing judgement.

"average" New Yorkers

I know you realize that New York is a large state not just the City

Maybe the "average Manhattanite" is the better way to put it

It just gets annoying that southerners lump everyone from the North in that group

Almost like lumping everyone in 8 or so states under the term “southerner” and describing a behavior you attribute to this fictional persona..

You lack the self awareness everyone in those states has come to expect from Yankees.

Of course, and I do mean the entire state but really more intended the region as a whole. And I do understand that concept you mention about the prevalence of folks merely considering the city, as opposed to understanding the full diversity of the area. The same phenomenon occurs with Louisiana, the thought of New Orleans being applied to the entire state. Hell within our own state we have a bit of an issue with the southern half perhaps thinking a touch less of the northern half, so that causes a bit of jading on the entire concept.

I will revise my prior comments to be more directed at the metropolitan areas of the northeast. I bet there are pockets of rednecks in upstate NY, lol. Definitely so in Jersey.
