This fire started around noon today and is now burning out homes in East Spokane. They've been given a Go Now evacuation order.

Prayers for those affected and hopefully everyone makes it out of the way safely. This fire blew up quickly and jumped over a river. Strong winds in the area.

UPDATE: This may be arson. There is video circulating of people setting fires.

UPDATE 2: Confirmed as arson. Suspect in custody. Details on page 2 courtesy of BlueJays509.

The fire started directly upwind from this area apparently. Close enough that it's burning the homes out in just a few hours time.

It started about 3 miles SW of there at W Euclid and Old Trails Road reportedly from a car fire. Around three-ish hours later it had topped the ridge and jumped the Spokane River.

It is a wind-driven crown fire that is torching trees and spreading before it sets into the underbrush much at all. It isn't your typical wildfire for the PNW this time of year.

Burning under high wind on a perfect fire day......red flags with extremely critical fire weather and a Particularly Dangerous Situation fire warning. About as bad as it gets.

That's what it sounds like. Hopefully everyone is able to get the hell out of there. But it looks like folks are stuck on the roads

It took hours for people to get evacuated from Indian Trail. Theres's not a lot of ways in and out in that part of town and its been overdeveloped in recent years making the congestion even worse.

Hopefully they're able to get the fire contained quickly. I read that thousands of homes are potentially at risk in this immediate area.

600 homes/structures lost so far. It now seems that the fire was started by a passing train, which isn't uncommon at all. The start location (at W Euclid Rd and N Old Trails Rd), is right beside train tracks. I'm not sure where the reporting of a vehicle fire originated. It is now called the Spokane Complex Fire to account for the other smaller fires in the general area.

Is there any way they can push it up to Seattle?

Not to downplay this at all but there over 500,000 acres burning in eastern Oregon and have been for 3 weeks.

When you no longer practice forestry management this is what happens. They can't do prescribed burns due to "environmental concerns". But, they scream global warming when forest that haven't had prescribed burns in 30 years burn.

This may be arson. There is video of people setting fires across the city. Authorities say that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

They wanted to put a data center in this area, by the way.

More activists setting global warming fires, just like before?

That was a forgotten aspect of the covid summer.

It appears to maybe be arson. But I'm not sure about the "activist global warming" angle. Apparently they were planning on putting a data center in this area and the locals fought against it. Now it's all being burned out.

These things are a problem. Wouldn’t shock me if the tech billionaires pay homeless to burn this stuff up to clear the way to build and gobble up cheap property. AI and these data centers will destroy this country. Just watch

Well, it's true that they were wanting to put a data center there. It also appears true that homeless people were starting fires.

Or the mentally deranged usual suspects when it comes to large scale arson events.

Purely conjecture at this time, but footage is from Spokane proper.

There are homeless all over Spokane. Tons of litter too. Driving from Idaho across state line is like going from one world to another. You get into Spokane and there is tagging everywhere. So many of the houses are dilapidated. There is some of that starting in Idaho but not even close to as bad. It's coming though.
