The relationship between alien life and the Abrahamic God would be very difficult to grapple with, I would think.

I don't see a problem with it. I really don't. Maybe I'm ignorant of some contradiction? But I'm Catholic and we can explain almost everything and things we can't we call it a mystery.

Would the aliens have souls? Do they require salvation? Do they have their own version of Jesus?

I'm not saying that these couldn't be adequately answered by theologians, it just presents a new set of questions to deal with.

Those are interesting question and I'm sure they've been addressed by various theologians. Maybe I'll research them tonight.

Evangelicals of any type are simpletons, IMO. Acknowledging that we have limited capability to know and understand is much harder to do than dealing in absolutes, which zealots of all stripes seem to do.

there's only one simple thing about that. If you don't believe in God, you better be right.

I just fail to see how finding extraterrestrial life is the death knell for believing in a God who created the heavens and the earth the beasts of land and fish in the sea. As for how that would fit into salvation I'd leave that to those more studied than I.

This, of course, depends on said God requiring faith in it and the existence of an afterlife, which are not requisites for an omnipotent being (though certainly true of the revealed Abrahamic God).

As per FT's wishes, I will cease the religious discussion.

You can thank the atheists for that. God and Chistians setting up shop and charging rent for the space they occupy in their head.

I've always found it odd that, even though alien spacecraft are supposedly spotted all the time, and some people even claim they have been abducted by aliens, for some unknown reason they have NEVER landed in some highly populated area where all doubt would immediately be removed.

Just sayin......
