You think that if Trump wins in 2024 the DEMs won't make 2020 look like kid's play to ensure a DEM follows him?

There's almost a 0% shot anyone associated with Trump has a shot in 2028 if he gets another 4 years.

Why? Because I didn't just ingest my morning dose of hopium?

Trump has very little shot in 2024, with all the advantages in the world (Biden, crazy Leftism, horrible economy, etc.). But assuming he pulls off the miracle, you think those razor-thin margins will somehow maintain when Trump himself isn't running? When the entire media, tech, news, etc. institutions will violate any norm to ensure no more Trumpism?

Based on what logic?

They probably would have joined forces but the money makers in the establishment GOP hate Trump and they have purchased DeSantis. The GOP donor class is relying on DeSantis to take out Trump. It won't work.

et tu gumbo

we need at least one non-cartoonish Trump loyalist around here

They will going into the General. Right now both have to run after the nomination. Trump is primary but Ron is plan A2 if Trump is not viable in Spring/Summer 2024. The GOP is not going to caught flat footed if the Dims hang something on Trump.

DeSantis is not an A type alpha personality. He’s a beta putting on an alpha tough guy routine.

You're thinking of Trump. All talk and little action.

Also, anyone who gets destroyed by Joe Biden isn't an alpha. Weak people lose to Joe Biden.

The Machine hates Trump.

Trump hates the Machine.

Neither will break bread with the other. It’s that simple.

Because everyone with common sense can see Trump is going to lose again. There’s no widespread appetite for more Trump.

Its amazing.

The guy that has launched perhaps the most aggressive conservative platform of all time, that is constantly get legislative act after act that attacks liberalism and woke culture at a breakneck pace, that has been labeled Deathsantis among many other things by the media is Beta

While:

The guy whose only signature legislation for his entire presidency was a George Soros backed, Cory Booker drafted, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian endorsed Social Justice Get out of Jail Free Bill...and did frick all else is the Alpha.

How do these people live on the same earth as the rest of us?

Forget that illegal border crossings were at historical record lows and he took a trillion off the Feds books. Forget that gas was $1.80/gallon and real unemployment and real wages were off the charts prior to the bioweapon.

All this while every fricking 3 letter agency and BigMedia held him back at every turn.

You can prefer Ron DeSantis and not discredit Trumps entire presidency.

Because the establishment owns both of them and it doesn’t fit their narrative or plan. You know divide and conquer.

The short and obvious answer to the OP's question is that the two men are running against each other for the nomination. They can't join forces now for that simple reason. there is nothing that would prevent them from presenting a unified GOP front in the general election once the nominee is settled. In fact, this is quite common. See, e.g., Sanders falling in line with Biden and Clinton, or Clinton falling in line with Obama and becoming SOS. On the GOP side, a prime example is Bush the Elder becoming Reagan's VP after running hard against him in the 1980 GOP primaries. Trump's personality may make it difficult for him to be a good soldier if he loses the nomination, but I suspect the other GOP candidates will fall in line if they don't prevail.

Man, imagine telling the Tea Party guys back then that when presented with a genuine conservative who takes no prisoners, the right would opt for Donald Trump

It'd be like telling a colonialist about transgenderism

Trump doesn’t have room on the stage for anyone other than him.

And he despises Ron, not on policy it’s a personal thing.
