Why Wouldn't Trump & DeSantis Join Forces?

Pardon my ignorance, but why wouldn't Trump & DeSantis join forces? I get that Ron wants to be President now, but why not be Trump's running mate? To me, this is a win/win. It gives the Republican party it's best chance to win and it could be a springboard for Ron in 2028. He gets some experience as Vice President and then he can run for President in the next election.

I don't know exactly how the party nominations work, so is this not an option? Could it be an option depending on who wins the nomination? Have either hinted at who they would choose as a VP?

Because the day you ally with Trump you’re on borrowed time unless you’re satisfied being subservient to him indefinitely.

There is a reason he doesn’t have meaningful friendships and his relationship with his family is transactional.

Murdoch / Ryan / Bush won’t allow it.
quote:

Lachlan Murdoch, the heir apparent and eldest son, who co-chairs News Corp and runs the parent company of Fox News, has reportedly told DeSantis that the group would back him if he ran in the next election. “Lachlan has been keen on Ron for some time,” said the i’s source. “He’s viewed within the organisation as a sanitised version of Donald.”

quote:

DeSantis didn’t raise $200+ million, with 94% coming from billionaires and multinational corporations, for a gubernatorial reelection race in Florida. Keep in mind all of the major expenses (television ads, mailers, etc.) are coming from outside PACs and affiliated groups.

It could still happen, but I think Trump just straight up doesn't like him.

If you are Desantis, you would be worried about Trump fatigue. If Trump wins in 2024, he would have been constantly in the political spotlight for 12 years.

A big part of it is DeSantis is every bit the Alpha Trump is. He thinks he is the best man for the job and he thinks he can win. If he loses he is fine with that but he isn't going to just submit to Trump.

Lots of other reasons as well. I can also still see a path that DeSantis decides to if he loses and Trump is smart enough to realize he should beg DeSantis to do so because it would significantly increase his chances of winning.

Right now though DeSantis thinks he can win and he has good reason to. He's going to announce next week and he has a MASSIVE amount of resources he is going to unleash in terms of money and endorsements. Trump has been very foolish to try this "It's already over" BS, he is going to have to beat Ron.

BTW, it also doesn't help the case that in the last week Trump is getting soft on abortion and Disney, he is just handing over social conservative voters to DeSantis in droves.

I mean, it’s high risk. Imagine being in the ticket that gets beat by a potato for a second time.

Why would DeSantis join with Trump when it would in all likelihood lead to Trump trying to throw him under the bus like he’s done to literally everyone else?

DeSantis isn’t going to tie his career to a sinking ship. Independents aren’t going to swing to Trump because DeSantis is on the ticket. VPs don’t move the needle. Fair or not, stolen election or not, independents hate Trump. DeSantis won’t change that.

The Republican Party is about to implode internally.

DeSantis was recruited by the guys who are trying to keep ahold on the Rep party. Neocons...

Unfortunately for us, DeSantis accepted this mission...

For now.

DeSantis is not an A type alpha personality. He’s a beta putting on an alpha tough guy routine.

Donald Trump is the definition of an alpha male. Mixed with charisma that sucks the air out of every room he walks in.

You obviously don’t remember congressman DeSantis before he became Mr tough guy.

I would like him much more if he would just be himself.

Joe Biden 20 years ago was more of an Alpha than DeSantis is now. And the fan boys will disagree but it’s the truth.

Ron's ego is too big.

Ron's ego is more important than a guaranteed republican victory.
