Yep, but don't upset the Stacy Abrams in this thread that can find evidence of election fraud behind every cactus in Maricopa county.

How?
How would knowing a precinct was heavily blue or red affect planning?
Again, the fact they've got both Dem and GOP maps doesn't make it any less odd and questionable.

What isn't clear about the response in the article I shared?

quote:

“The Maricopa County Recorder’s Office has a Geographic Information System (GIS) team that makes all of the maps in-house,” Gilbertson added. “We use the turnout data by party for elections such as the Presidential Preference Election, which is a party-only election. We use the all-voter maps for future planning for Primary and General elections.”

Assuming party specific "Presidential Preference Elections" occurred on seperate days, that would make sense .... but they don't. Do they?

I don't believe so, but sometimes one party doesn't even hold one while the other party does. The GOP in Arizona didn't hold one at all when Trump ran for re-election.

Right. Trump was unopposed. So having a Dem map in that instance might make sense? But that is a rarity, and they still have to set up every precinct.

I guess my question is, do they shift resources/equipment/staffing based on that? Seems as if that is what they did, they'd specify it.

That was my assumption as to what it would be used for. They also move precinct locations periodically as well.

I would imagine those maps help with primary elections where you get a specific ballot based on party affiliation. A location with more Republican voters they would anticipate needing more Republican ballots, etc.

Remember, in Maricopa county you don’t have an assigned polling place you must go vote at. You can vote at any location you want.

So that completely undercuts necessity for the partisan maps.

Just bizarre really.

My experience in election office layouts is confined to NC. But posted partisan maps would have drawn loads of negative attention there.

I'm more conservative than most of the self-identifying conservatives on this site, and chances are more conservative than you. But I don't let politics turn me retarded and weak, which seems to be a big problem on the Right.

Not really though. Even though you can go vote anywhere….most folks are still gonna end up voting very close to where they live. Seeing information from the last election like that could help them for primaries, etc. Could help them see where they could add more voting locations if need be. Or close down ones that haven’t been really active, etc.

Remember, Maricopa county elections are run by a majority Republican group

You say that as if it has some importance? With open precincts there is literally no reason for the partisan maps. None! They say the maps are for "planning." Planning what? According to multiple ED reports across the spectrum, there were numerous machine problems, nearly all limited to GOP heavy precincts. Now assuming those reports are accurate, the "planning" Maricopa officials undertook should certainly be called to question. Lot of oddities going down there. Numerous concerns raised before, during, and after the election. Results take weeks to process. Sounds more like an election in the jungles of Guatemala than in AZ.

I've read this on this site a few times and have asked - where is the source for this? I'm not suggesting it's not true, but where's the evidence of this?

A lot of truth to this. The Board of Supervisors are not just clowns, they're pompous AF and some of what we're seeing is a FU at the state legislature.

It was being reported all day. The GOP went to court seeking extended hours for affected precincts. Maricopa officials objected, and the judge turned down the requests. CNBC even mentioned it in one of their news segments.
