Why the hell isn't Texas shutting its own border.. Finishing the wall itself?

This situation with illegals is completely out of control and untenable. The Biden administration is murdering this Country through Texas!

Federal government has the land or easement. It takes time and rulings to get legal right for the State to start.

Abbott is swamp. He makes a lot of right decisions but he has a lot of swamp qualities.

The border is composed of federal property and private landowners IIRC. On one side for the state to build on Fed property would be illegal and eminent domain by private land owners does not apply in Texas.

I drive down roads all the time, and many of them have huge 30+ foot walls for miles and miles and miles.
Just build some damn walls, wherever they can, and put up a sensor network to at least funnel the criminals to select spots. Barbed wire and lots of it. Deep trenches. Pit Bull rescues. Giant piles of used tires. Whatever it takes.
I had people using my property as a cut thru for dirt bikes and ATV type stuff. Wouldn't have been a huge deal except they were using a hill to jump and ruining a strip of grass, too. Last thing I needed was someone getting hurt by our attractive nuisance. I put up caution tape at first, but they just went around it, so I had to pile up tree and limb debris to completely block the path and not just one pile, a bunch of them.
