One site in LA was giving out Happy Meal vouchers.

Not enough to bribe me to get tested, but evidently was for others.

Just so they can toss their name into the victimhood hat if they test positive

If they were around someone who tested positive, they may want to know if they got infected and risk infecting others. The test will let them know if they need to self quarantine for 14 days.

Negative test: continue normal life.

Positive test: limit your exposure to others.

Maybe if a person knows he’s been exposed recently and is planning on being near an elderly/immunocompromised family member in the near future?

This is what happened to me. I was directly exposed to it by my 2 business partners. Got tested each week for 3 weeks despite no symptoms and was negative every time.

It seems obvious to me that, given the above examples, we are artificially driving the demand for testing way, way up, as countless numbers of people who otherwise would have no use or reason for getting a test are being encouraged/forced to do so. Because after all, it's a simple math equation -- the more testing that is done, the more positives that will be found.

I understand all of that. The testing centers I was referring to were set up to do exactly that. The feds gave three cities money to conduct free testing of 60,000 people in each for a study on community spread of the virus.

How is it a waste of money and resources to perform tests that were already ordered/manufactured and paid for?

Not directly. The media spin on the number of overall cases may make the problem seem larger than it is, but a simple fact doesn't. The data is not at fault, the talking heads are at fault for distorting it.

I don't know but some people on here are convinced those very people are the reason for increasing positive tests.

How can you be unlikely to get a test and be the reason for increasing cases?

Because we taxpayers already gave Bill Gates 100,000,000,000 dollars for his contact tracing program.

As a doctor explained to me, this is not how it works.

When we came back from vacation, a company we took a tour with called me to tell us that our tour guide tested positive. So, I weighed our options and talked to our family Dr, asking if we should get tested.

The response was a resounding "No." DR stated that we should just quarantine. If we test, we might test negative, but the result wouldn't be accurate because we might not be positive yet. DR said we'd need to get tested every few days if we wanted to be accurate. So, DR advised just to chill at home and, if no symptoms after 14 days, resume normal life.

#1: Not every doctor will advise the same thing. They are not in lock step.

#2: Who can afford to self quarantine and "chill at home" for 14 days? If that were my option, I would take the test and hope for a negative so I could get on with my life.

#3: You are assuming that the average Louisiana citizen will consult their doctor before going to a testing site and getting their free McD's coupon.

This is why Muh Testing is such a joke.

We should not be encouraging the asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic to get tested. It's a terrible idea.

Had a few young employees do this twice each and came back negative twice and wouldn't come to work while awaiting results. My very cynical but what I believe to be accurate opinion is after talking to them, a combination of the media freaking them out and indoctrinating their thought process and a weird subconscious psychological desire for attention, belonging with friends of theirs that had it, and sympathy from those around them for having it. Basically all of the factors that make women and some men post absolutely absurd shite on social media all day long. I would also add a touch of being excused from working with a legit excuse.

I would also add upon receiving each negative result they were immediately back out at the barrooms getting blasted on their nights off so they certainly weren't concerned about catching it and/or spreading it. I do believe a portion of those getting tested without symptoms are doing it for the right reasons because they were exposed and not wanting to spread it, but there are a lot of younger people getting tested for the wrong reasons in my opinion.

Mom going through chemo, wanted to visit her.

Of course I could've contracted it between the time I left the clinic, and my arrival to my parents house, but I didn't.

well this is what happened to me...ADT technician comes to my house Friday to replace my front door keycode deadbolt lock...he had mask and gloves on the entire time...we did not purposely practice social distance but we kept space from each other while chatting up a storm of him telling me wild stories of his brother who is a cop in Alexandria and me LMAO from them...

Monday morning I get a call from ADT that technician that came to my house Friday tested positive from Covid-19 and they ask me am I showing any signs of being sick...I said no and they said if I start feeling sick to call them back...

I am not going to get tested just because someone I was exposed to tested positive...its no telling how many other people I or anyone on this board has been exposed to since all this began and we are not aware of it and have been just fine up to this point...
