Let's hope this doesn't happen. The optics aren't good but if the troops are enough of a deterrent, then no more blood need be shed. Five people are dead after that senseless nonsense at the Capitol. Five Americans. You can add to that the suicides of a couple of PTSD'd Capitol Police if you want. I'm not a fan of Americans killing other Americans though, so I hope this is a huge nothing burger.

You are the problem. Democrats and non-Trump supporting Republicans aren’t communists. Mike Pence isn’t the devil Red Horde because he did his job and counted the electoral college votes correctly. Your election wasn’t stolen, you just lost. Maybe this is a product of the participation trophy generation, but there are winners and losers in the world and Trump is a loser. There are only 2 conservative justices: Alito and Thomas
The rest are either liberal or moderate. Gorsuch can sometimes be conservative but he is nowhere near the other 2.

Pelosi kicking folks while they're down by ramming another bogus impeachment through the House and proactively stirring up the ant bed certainly doesn't help to cool things down any. Instead of practicing some humility in victory she's senselessly shooting for more turmoil. Such a fine person she is.

Personal opinion is that they are going to claim there is a threat from the Right during the inauguration. We know there isnt.
But to the public, 20K troops paints the picture that there is a threat.
I think the entire motive is to make people ashamed that they ever supported Trump. You can see it in the current cancelling of peaceful people at the DC rally
