College cost a lot more now than it did in 1970

Damn near everything does. That's no big revelation. Most households back in '70 had only one parent working. One working blue collar parent back then couldn't afford college for two or three kids no more so than two blue collar working parents can today.

My asking my dad to finance my college education back then was just as tough on him as if I had a child today asking me the same thing.

You tend to make more money in careers that you use your head rather than your body. Your body is only gonna bring in so much, but your brain can make you lots of money. Sort of the way I look at it. But don't get me wrong. You can make a very good living doing manual work too, but it'll never make youb rich.

Not going to college doesn't mean you are destined to be on the end of a shovel. Many ways to make a very good living using your head without a college degree, sales and IT are two.

I love the irony of a LSU board downgrading the value of college. I suppose those of you who push trades instead of college will be fine with the NFL going to a minor league NFL system and the SEC becoming the equivalent of Non-scholarship FCS.

I am all for it, we can quit the charade that division I college football is amateur college athletics and call it what it is, a professional sports operation/ NFL farm league.

I decided this 10 years ago when I was interviewing PHD's that had the common sense of a toddler. It has only gotten worse as cost have gone through the roof and the political environment is disgusting at least.

We will have a very lengthy exercise to go through before my kids are sent to a university.

And yes, my wife and I both have a degree.

My undergrad years I became a man...learned life lessons,...made friends....learned a ton of good info about my major and other areas.

I did another stint in college for the +30 my field requires - I sharpened my professional skills that year.

I am thankful to the state of Louisiana and the two universities that helped prepare my for my career and life.

Louisiana State and Louisiana Tech may be two of the better economic higher ed options around the nation.

I’ve asked you before on here what it is you do. You hide behind a stupid screen name and talk shite, but have no proof that you yourself have ever done anything of any value for us to even consider what you say. Put up or shut, loser!

I hope to raise children that can make adult decisions, rather than relying on what I think.

The majority of the guaranteed high salary jobs require a college education (Medicine, Engineering, Law, Pharmacy, etc.).

So the truth of the matter is that it's not by choice you'd have him blaze his own trail. HELP YOUR frickING KIDS dude.

Thankfully you don't have any. Course, if you did you may think differently. For starters, this ain't 1970 and things are a lot different.

Do you know anyone in management without a degree?

There's a reason rich people don't send their kids to a community college.
