love the irony of a LSU board downgrading the value of college. I suppose those of you who push trades instead of college will be fine with the NFL going to a minor league NFL system and the SEC becoming the equivalent of Non-scholarship FCS.

The ROI of college has been dropping considerably. It's so pathetic when you hear people say, "Go get an education so you can get a good job". You don't get wealthy working for someone else. You have to use corporations and real estate because you trashy Dems have taxed the frick out of the (upper) middle class so much. I'm not surprised a sheep like you can't have complex thoughts.

This isn’t 1970, college is not affordable for many families who have worked for years. Much less some kid trying to get a degree and work part time delivering pizzas

My dad worked for years. It wasn't affordable for him either at the time. I understand that today's prices to attend college are outrageous more so than back in the 70s but my whole point in this discussion is that it is not up to the parents today or any day to pay for your education if it means putting the parents deeper into debt. I get the vibe from some on here that it is.

Baseball, hockey, and soon basketball will develop stronger minor league system and the NFL will most likely follow suit.

Not to derail the thread, but the NFL will never implement a minor league system. Too costly and requires too many players, and the pool of players will steadily dwindle with concussion concerns.

Dumb question for the thread...

How many schools in Louisiana have a cost of attendance at $50,000 per year?

Why is the focus on $200,000 student loans for a thread that was based on the most common situations.

Yes. College itself is tired and inefficient. Why do I need my accountant to know 18th century History or English? I fricking don't.

College is only a good idea if the person wants to major in something that they can get a good job making a decent living.

I wish more kids knew that going in. Most kids go into college because that’s what’s expected of them and then they get some pointless degree. It shouldn’t be an unpopular opinion that college isn’t for everybody, especially nowadays.

My point is that you are likely to make more money - the world that produces consumer products/services doesn't give a shite what you majored in or where you went to school.

In 1970, nobility had nothing to do with it. I had an older brother two years ahead of me in college. He paid his own way, his last two years being paid by ROTC. I paid my way by working full time during the summer and part time during school. Nothing noble about that. Just doing what I thought was only right seeing as to how I as the one benefitting from it.
College cost a lot more now than it did in 1970

Because it opens doors.

Go to a community college for 2 years then transfer. It saves a ton of money. Also, attend an institution where it doesn't cost a ton of money to attend. You can get quality education without going to a expensive major university.

Your drive makes you money. Not directly tied to your IQ. Lot of people can do division quicker than me. But not near as many can develop real estate. It's the umph

If you are smart, you can learn everything you want online. You can even buy college text books, if necessary. Why does any adult need someone to summarize a book in front of a class? Obviously, there are some subjects that actually need to be taught, but not the majority.
