You obviously do not grasp the ramifications of the repeal of NN. Let me provide you with an example. Say electricity providers are able to determine which kind of oven you use for cooking. Well GE has a deal with most electricity providers to prioritize their ovens over their competitors. So instead of taking 30 minutes to cook your meal with a non GE oven it takes 2 hrs because the electricity companies are able to throttle the amount of electricity they provide to your oven. Now replace Electricity company with ISP, GE with facebook, cooking speed with internet speed and non GE oven with a new up and coming social media site.
Holy shite that was awesome.

What % of population is over 75 and under 3. So there’s at least that many people who don’t really use it. And even more that don’t actually “need” it.
And then you can break it down further by how MUCH people truly use it. Comparing it to electricity is kinda dumb actually.

I know right. Every major content providor (typically with low or no cost services) is up in arms... And the evil ISPs are rejoicing.... This must be a great thing!

See my example above regarding refineries. It applies to any manufacturer really.
The businesses engaging in a freakout, are businesses that use more of a commodity (bandwidth/electricity) than a personal consumer (Netflix/Refinery vs. TV Watcher/oven user).
The refinery has to build its own infrastructure, and pay the costs for doing so, and then it passes along those costs to the consumers of its product.
Netflix wants to avoid building its own infrastructure and instead have every single user of the internet pay for the costs of doing business (NOT just its customers).
NN isn’t consumer protection. It’s protection of corporate interests that supported Obama overwhelmingly, and therefore it was in Obama’s best interest to support and protect them.
People who support the maintenance of this crony capitalism by regulation need to take a step back and think about the motivation of the administration who enacted the regs - and also the businesses who are crying out now that their safety net/regulatory welfare is gone.
Net Neutrality is not a libertarian / liberal/ consumer protection policy. It’s choosing sides without saying so out loud.

Fear mongering 101 right here. There is no reason or why they would throttle speeds that much.
1 case after the Title II switch was MetroPCS who had a deal where YouTube streaming didn’t count against data. Now they did this not to “screw” consumers but because their network is old and slow and Google (owner of YouTube) helped them with something to improve video quality. They did it to try and attract customers, you know compeating in the marketplace. If you know in advance XYZ Power favors GE ovens and you have Viking then go with another electricity provider

My young kids do as well. But it’s not a necessity right?

What truly is a necessity besides Oxygen,Water and Food?

There’s the hyperbole we’ve come to expect from the leftist argument. Well done.

Obama invented it, and then decreed it by fiat. Leftists believe that when Obama decrees something, it must create warm fuzzies and bunnies. So NN means rainbows and peace and lots of chocolate without getting fat. So they want to keep it.
I don't know about all of that other commentary, but there is a ton of truth to this. Obama is pretty much liberal Jesus. I was trying to watch Judd Apatow's latest standup act last night and half of his set was Trump bashing and Obama blowing. With a straight face the guy said: "I reminisce about how wonderful Obama was. Here was a smart guy who never lied to us and just wanted to help people". I couldnt change the channel fast enough.
Everything he's done, to them, is sacrosanct

Electricity is slightly above YouTube videos for my 3 year old in the order of necessity. Maybe.
Come on. Just admit you don’t want to pay for entertainment.

ISPs were treated like a utility until yesterday when NN was repealed

What are you talking about? I pay for my internet and I pay for my data usage and I also pay for my netflix usage.

In what alternative reality did I suddenly land where liberals describe behemoth companies like Amazon, Google and Netflix as practically the consumer's best friend who only want what's in my best interests but companies 1/5th to 1/10th their size are the evil ones we need to watch out for?!
Posted on 12/15/17 at 10:03 am to ShortyRob
ATT and Comcast are 1/5th the size of Amazon and Netflix?
