Dick Morris covers this topic in a podcast. Dems lose an election because they lost the middle and instead of tacking back to the middle they will go further to the left. this is the third time they have done it.

I am referring to the myriad of posts on this site that has some amazing disbelief that they can't understand why they're auto-branded as an intolerant racist. If you claim small government ideals but contradict yourself by claiming you're part of "The Party of Values," you've wholly bought into being pandered to. That this site laughs at the other side for something so obviously similar is laughable. You guys come here to talk about ideas but you don't want ideas, the majority come here to flock together from a slightly different point of view.

Edit: and I guess that's why I'm here too...

They're not used to having to think for themselves. Just plug into cable news and regurgitate.

I'll play the devil's advocate here. Outside of a shitastic Dem Nominee, could the Right not see that they needed to dissociate with the religious right and all the religious idiots that unfairly give us the reputation for being intolerant bigots?

The Christian Right ran me off from the Pubs many years ago so I feel your message. But I think it's been evident for the rise of the Paul's and the nomination of Trump that the right is moving away from that part of their base. My anecdotal observations so take it for what it's worth.

They will lose union support soon and then it's lights out, game over man.

I think the right has at least tried to distance ourselves a bit from the evangelical crutch. It doesn't seem to me recently to be as prominent.

All the left really gives a shite about is identity politics. You have horrible leadership there that's alienated anyone that wants to talk about issues that aren't identity.

It's sad

I've heard the term "Religious Right" my entire adult life but never the term "Religious Left."

I've literally never heard term "Religious Left" used with regards to American politics.

Why is that?

Can I tell you?

It's because the term "Religious Right" is a pejorative created by the left. The religious right doesn't exist as an actual brand. It's a myth cooked up by kook limbs to brand regular Americans as frothy hate monger.

No, it's because religious values tend to be more socially conservative. But of course that's too straight forward and makes too much sense. Everything has to be a conspiracy.

Can't disagree with any of this, pretty on point. I just wish someone other than Trump woke everyone who had gotten sucked into this nonsense up. I guess I just need to be thankful for the small victories.

And how many elections would Repubs win without the vote of religious people?

I said I was playing devil's advocate, this is obviously why it happens, thank you for making my point. The dems see it in the right and the right sees Al Sharpton in the left. No matter what anyone says, the pandering needed to win one side over the other is just as obvious to them as the subject of this post is to us.

Im not liberal or conservative. I hate the very idea of a two party system. In fact i hate idea of political parties and affiliations.

One thing about democrats... the long term future doesnt seem to bode well for gop. Demographics are changing in a way that seems to favor. The democrats have their idiotic faults and so does the gop. They too should worry about how they go about things. They need to evolve for sake of future presidential races.

Yes it is pretty crazy here in the real world. One of the officers shot by the BLM rioters was a high school friend. These SJW's who want to riot (or "protest") over every stupid thing are becoming the face of the democrat party.Mostly because the dems are encouraging the madness instead of rebuking it. Maybe you're the one on a different planet.

The dems biggest ignorance is the economy. Their economic strategy has never worked in the history of the world. If there were some fiscal conservatives in the Democratic Party I might not have to vote Rebublican every damn time.
