How do we define 'press' in the internet age?

Free press does not equal honest press.

A good example is when President Andrew Jackson passed the Indian Removal Act(trail of tears) it barely passed because a very popular congressman Davy Crockett was against it.

When Davy Crockett ran for Congress again Jackson used the press to spread lies about him. This caused Crockett to lose his seat.

It’s not just today’s press. A biased and negative press has been used for centuries.

It’s free but it doesn’t have to be honest. Just say I have sources or I’ve been told by people and it makes it sound more authentic

I only like the news when it conforms to my worldview and reinforces my long-held convictions about our society.

On a related note, this was a thread the other day:

can DOJ go after leakersPosted on 4/17/18 at 9:47 pm 03 I'm no legal scholar, but just wonder why these leakers cannot be stopped? They leak top secret info to the papers and nothing is done about it. Can't the reporters be forced to name their sources?
