So what? With new criminals being stopped by the wall, more manpower can be focused on finding and deporting the visa overstays.

The Wall will just create cartels for smuggling operations

How so?

Most of the real threats (heroin, weapons, cartel members) are getting into our country by different means and are much more connected.

So what? Having those operations greatly increase, increases the likelihood of them being exposed and easier to stop. With less manpower needed at the border, more can be focused on stopping the--as you point out-- more serious and dangerous sources.

Does everything have to be so fricking dramatic? Have the wall, end chain migration, give amnesty to these poor bastards making a living, and be done with it. shite

Pretty much agree; but Policy has to be clearly defined, Yak. Not dramatic...just that words matter in legalize.

No Amnesty...minus examinations of those who hope for it. Merit-based...Green Cards, etc., until they prove themselves as being productive members of our society. We have too many commie slackers/thugs already.

2. CHIP is now off the table, and the GOP can not hold 9 million kids hostage again in 3 weeks. The GOP has lost a bargaining chip for February 8th. CHIP has been extended for 6 years.

What did the Dems gain today? CHIP off the table, 9 million kids get their health insurance

I think he thinks that CHIP was somehow leverage for republicans. It wasn't. Republicans were always going to fund it and only democrats were stopping the budget form being done. It was Chuck and Nancy that were trying to screw over the kids, hoping that Trump would get the blame. In 3 weeks they won't have that talking point anymore.

I guess our issue is with amnesty for DACA, since the dems were fine with ending chain migration and a wall.

Seems like a fair deal to me

I understand that principle, but it applies mostly to legitimate business operations...which encourage growth. Drug smuggling via organized gang cartels, gang violence can be mostly stopped. Accepting that the citizens have no choice in the matter plays into their power structure.

Absolutely not. The drug trade and prostitution are examples.

If getting stomped is playing it well, Schumer played it superbly.

I see what you mean, but it's an apples to oranges comparison. If the majority of prostitution relied on the prostitutes getting over a 30 foot wall, that business would suffer in numbers and profit.

So you think the dems played it well by voting against a bill resulting in a govt shutdown and then later voting for basically the same bill to stop the govt shutdown?

The six year extension of CHIP was part of the bill they voted against. They didn't have to shut the govt down to get all that.

The dems did get something out of their strategy though. What they got is a campaign issue for the Republicans to use against them in the fall. That the Democratic Party's priority is put Americans last which makes for an interesting contrast to Trump's putting America first campaign.

Shut that bitch down on Feb 9th.

Why would you shut down the government over DACA now? Most of the public backs citizenship for the Dreamers.

Bit of weird talking point when a republican house and senate let a democratic signature bill expire, and then the republican dominated house refused to pass the bipartisan agreement the senate put together in the wake of the CHIP sunset provision starting.

Still, I personally will be happy as frick to see the GOP paint itself into a corner as the savior of CHIP given that Ryan is taking aim at Children's Medicaid/EPSDT.

Exactly. And that would allow american prostitution to flourish.

Of course the elites will still be enjoying foreign prostitutes in far flung corners of the world like Moscow.

No they don't

Don't kick them out and citizenship isn't even remotely close to the same thing. It's like comparing DACA to dreamers.

DACA 700K people
Dreamers 3-4 million people
