Need a majority vote of Senate and Reps to confirm a new VP. If trump is on the ropes and Pence resigned, they’d slow walk a replacement vote to have a vacant VP office upon Trump’s hypothetical removal. Then President Pelosi.
I really don't know but I don't believe this on the face of it. It's too late tonight for me to research Gerald Ford but I doubt a new VP has to be "confirmed". Then again I might be wrong.

“Ford was nominated to take Agnew's position on October 12, the first time the vice-presidential vacancy provision of the 25th Amendment had been implemented. The United States Senate voted 92 to 3 to confirm Ford on November 27. Only three Senators, all Democrats, had voted against Ford's confirmation: Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin, Thomas Eagleton of Missouri and William Hathaway of Maine. On December 6, the House confirmed Ford by a vote of 387 to 35. One hour after the confirmation vote in the House, Ford took the oath of office as Vice President of the United States. “

Section 2 states that in the event of a vice-presidential vacancy, the president will nominate a vice president who will be confirmed by a majority Congressional vote.
Well if they can get something on Pence and if Trump were to be removed, the democrats could prevent a Republican from replacing Pence if he fell into trouble. So it seems to me the democrats have every reason to drum up problems for both Trump and Pence. It would be a dream come true for them. The firewall would be Republicans in the Senate. That is the only thing that could save Republicans from being hounded out of office. So indeed a replacement VP has to be confirmed by a majority vote of congress. Democrats are so cunning.

They already know how to attack Pence. Hit him as a religious freak and he'll bend the knee like every other R.
Trump has them flummoxed

2 reasons
1. keep focus on Trump who some republicans dont like, but do like Pence
2. if he replaced Trump, they know he cant win a national election

They did attack Pence early on in Muh Ukraine. Pence defended POTUS and spoke out directly about Biden.
They really think President Pelosi and I am not kidding.

I've read two articles that said Pence must be impeached along with Trump because he was complicit in the crimes.
