About 18 people died in all of EBR parish last year during the Opiate Crisis. Which isn't a crisis at all. The crisis is fricking heroin
Heroin is made from opium.

It will be a medical crisis like you have never seen in 10 years. It's beginning to happen now with several deaths related to vaping.
Vaping causes damage to the lungs immediately. Even for first time vapers. The first puff damages your lungs permanently
There is no medical treatment to reverse the damage that it causes. Look up "popcorn lung"
The nodules in your lungs are destroyed and your body has a tough time getting the proper amount of oxygen it needs.
None of these Vape products are regulated by the FDA!
you would prefer your kids smoke cigarettes. Trust me the ir-reversable damage that is caused is going to be an insurmountable task to fix!

Why isn't the spread of diseases including typhus, hepatitis, shigella, and threat of bubonic plague all connected to allowing the homeless live in rat infested tent cites being treated as a medical crisis?

Which is an opiate. Which other rx opiates lead to. Your post is totally naive and you come off like an ill-informed person on the matter. There is certainly an opioid crisis. People don't just start doing heroin one day. 9 times out of 10 it's a long road that starts with rx opiates.

I'm well aware of how heroin is made. You left out the part where heroin is laced with fentanyl (illegally of course) and mixed with other drugs. But those "Other" drugs don't get ruled as the cause of death. They are put in the "opiate death" category. Because that's where they want them listed. What you've done is pushed doctors to swing the pendulum so far to the left that they don't actually prescribe ANYTHING for pain these days. Surgery? Take 2 tylenol and you'll be fine as long as the DEA stays off my arse and I protect my job. What happened to the Hippocratic oath? They just said "frick it" in order to keep their livelihoods going. This is what government intervention gets you brother. It gets you shite on over and over and over and over.

It's all about the lobbyists. One of the big boys missed out on the new developments in the technology, or missed out on a big contract with someone, and is now calling in favors/burning cash to crusade against the new great Satan that kills dozens of people per year while we all wink and nod at the hundreds of thousands killed by opiates, real cigarettes, and alcohol.

I don't think this is based on reality.

What do you think centralized big government exists for?
For the big cahoonas that can get them to do their bidding in the private sector. The biggest element of society at the government tit/trough is big business contrary to popular opinion and not the poor, BY A LONG shot.

I've read the research. I've done my own. I've sat in front of a US Senator to talk about this issue. I'm probably more informed than you are.

There is an illegal drug crisis. Let's get this shite straight right now.

Source: A guy with a degenerative spinal disease that can't get any relief because doctors are scared of their careers and lives. So what do they do? They do nothing to help their patients. I was on a stable dose of meds for 10 years. No more, no less. Never "lost my pills", etc. Then suddenly one day it's a problem???? And I'm forced off of all medication? I now take 8 medications (which barely work) to try and combat this illness where 1/2 of an opiate did the trick before.
So thanks for fricking this up for me recovering addict.

The latest report said 42 people died of ‘vaping related illness’. What were the other factors? 42 out of 350 million is .000012%
Girl I went to HS with died recently from vaping. However, it was due to using illegal THC oil that was laced with stuff the body couldn’t process, wasn’t from using nicotine juul pods
