Why did we invade Iraq would be a fair question. You are no American if you are asking why did we invade Afghanistan. They were given an ultimatum to shut down the Al Qaeda training camps and hand over their leaders after 9/11 (and it is a fact that they were there) and they refused to do so.
Iraq was a mistake. Afghanistan was righteous but dragged out far too long, and never received the support required to be successful

Even now, can anyone answer why we invaded Afghanistan?
Under the Taliban leadership, Afghanistan was a major state sponsor of international terrorism, including terrorism directly against US interests. We gave the Taliban every opportunity to renounce that role and to surrender AQ leadership to us, and they declined.
Classic FAFO stuff.

Russia is also a historical enemy of Iran.
That is not the history Putin remembers though. Putin is known to hold the Crimean war in endearment for his anger against the West.
America First does not mean asking to be buddies with people who want to see us fail. Russia and China are actively trying to weaken the dollar, reducing our purchasing power. They are no friend of ours

Bush delivering that ultimatum is still one of my favorite POTUS speeches. Its a shame we decided to focus on nation building instead of eradicating the enemy.

We've already seen the negative externalities of the Iraq invasion the past 20 years, but we've yet to see what this propaganda movement to create a wedge between the US and Europe, which NPCs in this thread have displayed in full force, will lead us. It probably won't be good for markets/trade and our SOL.
Well, we’ll see. I still remember when I took an international arbitration certification class at Humboldt University in Germany back in the early 2000s and there was tremendous anti American sentiment. No place would take my American Express card even when they had the sticker in their shop/restaurant because we invaded Iraq.
Plus, I’m not sure Europe has much choice here. They are struggling mightily, especially because of energy. I’ve always thought the Coase theorem has a fundamental flaw because it discounts the role of human vices such as pride/stubbornness but I also think it has a fundamental insight into how a lot of people work.

You neocons are pathetic. You want US servicemen to die for a corrupt midget comedian. You white knight for liberal European governments that hate free speech, promote queer ideology, and protect Islamist immigrants. But then you get mad if people don’t hate Putin for doing what is best for his country while also promoting Orthodox Christian culture and traditional values. I trust Putin more than Macron or Starmer any day.

Vance's speech is what Europe needed to hear. Europe is addicted to weakness and welfare nets, they have been lethargic for 2 generations now. Their economy has been shite since 2000, and their militaries have been a joke since the closing days of the Cold War
If the US pulls out, they will be forced by necessity to to rebuild their militaries. They will have to either remove their welfare nets or become more pro business instead of over regulating everything
What Trump/Vance/Hegseth told them sounded "mean" to the liberals, but its like telling a friend that its a bad idea to marry the town whore. A good friend tells it as it is

Let's frame this question a different way.
Why are so many leftists who are perfectly fine with us being invaded by foreigners so adamant about the sovereignty of a nation they didn't know existed 15 years ago?
You can apply this same question to leftists in many western European countries as well.

The problem is, we are the common enemy for both of them
BRICS is trying to royally frick our economy by killing the dollar. Another one of Brandon's genius moves was to support the current America hating Brazilian president, instead of backing his predecessor because he was a friend of Trump (but also pro America)

Russia has 2x the abortion rate of the EU, is allied with all of the Muslims (Chechnya, Iran, Hamas), what Christian culture and values are you referring to?

The fact that he's currently invading a sovereign nation without being provoked should be enough, but the fact that this is the last in a series of similar aggressions since 2008 should seal the deal.
These facts dispute your notion that there was no provocation.
"The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) has had observers on-the-ground monitoring the situation in Donbas since the outbreak of open conflict began in 2014.
The OSCE has been the only international civilian observer mission allowed to collect information from both sides of the contact line, and its data, while incomplete, remains the best available.
The OSCE observer mission provides maps in daily reports documenting the location of ceasefire violations and explosions along the contact line between the Ukrainian military and the Donbas republics.
These maps clearly show that Ukraine began artillery strikes against the Donbas republics on February 16th, 2022.
In other words, Ukraine began shelling the independent republics of Donetsk and Luhansk nine days before Russia announced its ‘special military operation’ in Ukraine.
While the western corporate media remained completely silent, explosions documented by the OSCE increased from 76 on February 15th, to 316 on February 16th, to 654 on February 17th, and to 1,413 on February 18th.
When you look carefully at the daily maps of these explosions, it is clear that the vast majority of explosions occurred on the Russian separatist side of the ceasefire line."
