Why does Ukraine care so much about land they clearly cant protect?

That’s a stupid question. Can Canada defend their land against the US? By your implied reasoning Canada should not care about Alberta, for example.

Western countries are happy to throw money at Ukraine and let their people be the cannon fodder. No one seems to care about the young men being wasted on both sides. But I guess that’s the point. When this war is over, Ukraine will be a different country demographically.

Europe should conscript all those filthy foreigners in their borders and send them to Ukraine.

So their per capita debt is about half what ours is. What's your point?

The EU has repeatedly told Ukraine it needs to implement corruption reform before it will allow them to draw down the remaining financial commitments.

Ukraine decided it would just be easier to lobby the US for the money.

Are you positive other countries around Europe aren’t motivated by what can be fairly described as Russia’s attempt to encroach upon them via Ukraine, if Putin and Russia have their way, and then possibly onward from there via Ukraine if they were to achieve success there? I can’t imagine those countries being ok with Russian western expansion.

Are you positive

Yes. There’s been dozens of stories this week because Ukraine is $27 billion short on its budget next year.

The real conspiracy theory is why every report deflects any question about the reason Ukraine hasn’t made any progress in its promised reforms.

But Thursday's joint statement said funds had been identified to cover spending for the remainder of this year - although it also alluded to the need for Ukraine to meet ?the EU's political reform benchmarks to access all the cash.

Oh well then if the/some other European countries weren’t and aren’t significantly concerned, disturbed even, by Russia’s apparently very solid and unwavering intention to geographically get closer to various other countries’ borders, if that’s an insignificant concern or no concern at all, shouldn’t or wouldn’t they be basically ignoring it altogether?

Maybe Russia should just pack their things and go home, since it’s taking them 5 years to take a sliver of Ukraine. Hundreds of thousands of their own people for what?

That's a completely different situation. Ukraine has a thousand years of history intertwined with Russia, was part of Russia at times, and was part of the Soviet Union. The land is heavily disputed and constantly been fought over. US and Canada have a friendly diplomatic relationship, are allies, and have not been at war with each other for hundreds of years.
