Why doesn't Abbott put the Texas National Guard on the border?

Is there some federal law preventing this? Abbott talks a solid game and DJT seems to like him but not sure about him.

Yeah it sounded like he was going to do something, then he folded faster than Superman on laundry day.

I’m not a Texan, as others have written, I assume he’s scared.

He has all the power and tools he needs to seal the border.

He’s the one choosing to do nothing.

He could do a fundraiser and raise twice what he needs from rational America.

Maybe he could get Bruce Springsteen to headline the event.

The border issue and the COVID lock downs are the only reason Abbot pushed constitutional carry so much because he is up for re-election in 2022. Also, he has preached for years about lowering property tax in Texas and has done nothing. I plan on voting for lt col Allen West in the Republican primaries for governor.

Not sure what the steps are for the National Gaurd but the Texas guard could and should be called up. That or he could just simply deputize anyone who volunteers and offer free ammo. There would be 100,000 good old boys there by morning.

His paralysis must be completely from the waste down including his nuts.

Until Republicans start acting fearless to the point they are willing to lose their life or be imprisoned for doing what's right... things will never change. That has to be the attitude.

I live outside Austin. My kid’s nanny has family 3 hours towards the coast. Her family’s property continues to get broken into as illegals hop the border. They call the cops - the illegals get sent back. The family files an insurance claim. Nothing changes. Sooner or later people are going to start protecting their property with lethal force as the police/ICE don’t do shite.

Legally what can he do? Seems like he has the constitution on his side to shut it down.

...there are TX NG units on the border. Shitting in buckets and playing soldier as we speak. One of the other FFs on my department is a medic in the NG, and most of his unit is either deployed to the border or deployed doing covax. He's been gone since just after the freeze, and will likely get reassigned to the border with the rest of his unit when the covax orders expire.

The borders are federal jurisdiction. States can’t do anything about it.
