Yea, I once heard an older black woman bashing "ebonics" and "thug life", saying the slaves would die for education and now the black community embraces ignorance.

But I also think the impact of welfare and food stamps are to blame. When hand outs are available, people have no reason to thrive or grow. So now the government has complete control over them financially, while having their vote. It's unbelievable how well LBJ is still trolling the black community to this day.

Yep, the black community has willingly became slaves to the DNC. It's sad.

Even if you are a bright young black kid who seeks to improve himself, you not only have to deal with being different than the majority population of the nation.....and yes, that's a disadvantage........you have to overcome becoming an outcast among those who are supposed to be your "in group".

I think this is also a huge problem. I personally didn't deal with it as much since I attended schools with mostly white students, but friends of mine definitely had issues with this.

when i get talking about trying to improve education with people (typically liberal types) and they want to build the system to protect the terrible kids who ruin the education of kids who want to learn, instead of building the system around the kids who want to learn, i rage

it's one of the few political subjects i get emotional about. i go hulk and rage

Since you're a hogs fan, I'd let you know that my first cousin, Chris, played Brandon in Greater.

It was his first major movie, be gentle on his performance lol.

Same here.

In a classroom of 30 students, all it takes is one bad apple to completely ruin it for everyone.

exactly

one of the really shitty things about the federal government basically shifting welfare to disability is that "crazy checks" were incentivized and our educational system basically are not allowed to deal with these kids. many aren't even disabled and become deficient to keep the checks rolling in and then they disrupt the educational system of innocents. HOW is that system sustainable?

A very good friend of mine in HS was a black guy with 1st generation Jamaican parent immigrants.

He spoke English as well as I do and, was one of the brightest kids in school.

The blacks in our school were absolutely ruthless towards him. It's a testament to his fantastic parents that the dude wasn't suicidal.

Here he is in a burb school with only about 15% blacks and I mean, it was like the dude has some version of racial cooties. Even half decent black kids wanted no part of looking like they were cool with him.

I heard it all. He was "acting white", an "oreo" etc etc.

I sit on a local school board and see this all the time. We have kids who don't care about their own education also affecting the education of children who DO care, and there is not a whole lot we can do about it.

I thought he did a fantastic job of portraying Brandon.

Question. I've noticed what to me, seems like a newer trend which I find as disturbing as the outcasting of smart blacks.

It seems that a lot of blacks who are well spoken, smart, etc etc have developed a new coping mechanism with being outcast from their own group. Namely, they have become some of the worst SJWs for race.

Like they're on some sort of quest to "prove they are legitimately black" whatever that might mean.

To me, it's sad because black kids aren't going to look to me to emulate; they're going to look to successful blacks to emulate.

But, they can't emulate them. I emulated white people who most assuredly would have and DID say, "Shorty, you're fricking up.....". I probably wouldn't have done so well if all the whites in my life excused or glorified my stupid choices.

This is truly a sore spot for me

But like you said, it's a symptom of a major problem within the community that needs to be fixed.

I'm glad because here's the worst thing about that story.

SOME blacks that I tell it to think it is perfectly OK to use "acting white" and "oreo". I've had black people tell me that's completely legit.

I'm like, what fricked up mechanism has caused blacks to think they really ARE supposed to all be the same?

I mean, that's the shite the KKK is selling. That's not supposed to be what blacks are buyin

The sad part is, the DNC leadership contributes to that , labeling conservative blacks as "house ****s" and such. That's pathetic.

Take someone like Ben Carson, for example, that guy should be a role model for ANYONE, his politics be damned, we're talking about a black man who grew up in a pretty poor area of a shitty town and not only clawed his way through school but became the first person in his family to attend college and not only that went to Yale and became a neurosurgeon. That's not just impressive, that's awe inspiring, yet many on the left, and many blacks in particular hate the guy and ridicule him as not being black enough.

Whatever the hell that means.

Did all that and yet, if you asked the average black person today what they think of Carson, they'd call him names and say he's kinda dumb.

I mean, really. I've said for years that the left has been successful where the KKK failed.

The KKK stupidly thought the best way to "deal with blacks" was to hold them down.

Pfft. The left says, "hold our beer". The BEST way is to get them to hold THEMSELVES down!!!

Ben Carson was an icon in the black community

then he came out as a Republican
