This crap is getting stupid.

Not all cops DO follow orders. Not all cops did during covid, not all cops did responding to hostile situations. Those cops, at best, are suspended or even fired. At worst, those cops become talking points for things like "defund the police".

I've spent the last two years hearing how cops aren't necessary, how we need to defund them or replace them with dime-store psychologists. Now we have a hostile situation that happened where cops were TOO cautious and it's the exact opposite?

Here's a possible future: federal police. They won't care what your feelings are. They won't be subject to civilian oversight boards and dipshit mayors who jab a knife in their back whenever politically expedient, they won't necessarily go to your churches, have kids on your little league ballteams, eat at the local restaurants or be subject to your local laws. They will have central authority from people who may never have even heard of your city, town or community. And you will hate them. And you will have zero say.

The people on the right tend to call out an egregious government failure, leftists always cover it up, because Government can do no wrong from their world view.

The cops fricked up. And the right is showing they want accountability, regardless who it is. (To be fair, not just the right, this is a feeling expressed across all political spectrums. Which is pretty amazing).

Wow, the military I was in has changed drastically. If it has become a true free for all, and any one can decide to do what ever they want, we are truly freaked.

not a free for all. it's called chain of command. If Platoon Leader goes down or is derelict in performing as ground commander the Platoon Sergeant will take charge.

Why do you listen to your boss?

I don’t. There’s been multiple times in my career my boss has asked me to do something unethical. Sometimes I outright ignored the order. Sometimes I fought it up the chain. Sometimes I just played dumb and waited for it to pass. I never did the unethical thing asked.

Everyone gets faced with instances like this in their lives. Your response demonstrates your character.

Where do you get this notion that he is “not a cop?”

Most are brainwashed in training, just like the military in basic.
Oh and "I'm just doing my job" is the biggest mindless drone line I can think of.
This statement does not apply to ThePeople. There are a few like him left that truly just want to make a difference.

Wrong. military training is all about taking initiative. if an order is outright stupid you have every right to tell the ground commander to pound sand. If the ground commander freezes up, the next in line of the chain takes the lead.

I respectfully disagree.

Initiative is good and all, but I can't imagine the military or a paramilitary organization such as a police department encouraging insubordination.

That's a blueprint for failure.

The option to take it up the chain of command is not always an option and hindsight is 20/20.

Unfortunately you're correct. No different than the '9 month tour of duty' in the current deployments vs. WWII [in it for the duration]

None of those officers have any 'real' skin in the game.

There was an active shooter inside a fooking elementary school. They were too cowardly, not too cautious. I'm not a defund the police guy or anything close to it but I'm not going to make excuses for something like this.

To all who claim that LEO will not comply with gun grab orders, what do you have to say now? Still believe in that wholeheartedly?
