I don't understand it either. I have well educated, critical thinking friends and family members that vote Democrat. Basically, they think that the general public will be better off if the government takes care of their lives, and are willing to give up their own personal wealth and liberties to allow that to happen.

Poor people who pay little to no taxes support higher taxes so they can get more free shite.

It's even easier than that. Uncle Sam accepts checks made out to the US Treasury all day every day!
It is also not illegal to overstate your income on your 1040. Claim you made 50,000 to 100,000 more and pay the tax on it.
Buffett is one of the rich loons who cry for higher taxes.... except he could do it. Easily. Claim all income as self employment income instead of capital gains. Make much higher estimates. Then sign and send in a fairly simple return paying more taxes. Easy pleasy. Why doesn’t he do this? Same as the others. It’s all agenda and the non critical thinkers who line up behind it.

I have a liberal friend and he says he's more than willing to pay it to keep the "poor" folk out of his hair. But he thinks it's like "giving" to the poor. That's why you don't see the politicians on the left giving much to charity. They view their taxes as giving.
While the folks on the right, and this is a generalization, but we give 10% to the church, then to charity, and don't view taxes as "giving".

I know it's a joke that leftists would just prefer that 100% of all salaries go to the govt and they decide what pay you merit. Then, they send you a check every month based on their judgment of your worth.
But I knew a leftist that sincerely preferred that economic model. She was about 40 y.o. and originally from Belgium where she was a member of their communist party. She got US citizenship and is a loyal Democrat.
She decried the fact that artists and orchestra members made almost nothing in our free market. The govt would give them lots of money because they are important even if people are too stupid and don't like their work. The govt would use the money taken from rich people who don't do important work.... like pro athletes, movie stars, and corporations.

When I’ve asked liberal friends, they give an answer of moral superiority - “I don’t mind giving up more of MY money to help others.”
That’s total BS . They want to force everyone else to pay to help others too. If they really wanted to help people they would want lower taxes and they would give their money to organizations that do charity work . I would be shocked if normal working class democrats even came close to giving as much money to charities that Republicans do . Democrats want the government to steal everyone’s money and give it away to help people while republicans prefer to donate the money to the organization they want .

To punish other people for allegedly doing better than them.

Do you even women? Women are biologically inclined to find the best provider. Government obviously has the biggest bank role. Connect dots.
If you have to go into why would a man do that just remember that one lad who talks about low t men everyday til he got banned.

Mostly because they believe that others will pay the higher taxes and that the redistribution efforts are "fair."
It isn't any more complicated than that.

It's somewhat mindboggling
There is some truth to this but it isn't really that strange.
Republicans have an unwavering faith that the government is out to get them.. except the military which is somehow exempt from that criticism
Both positions are equally dumb

Because if you look at Democrats as a whole you see that they largely fall into two groups.
Group 1. Poor people who don't earn enough to have to pay any federal income tax. YOu could make the tax rate 100% and they wouldn't care, because they are exempt because of their low income
Group 2 - The super wealthy who have loopholes that allow them to claim they are for paying higher tax rates, because in reality they are paying little or nothing in relation to income. Example. Does anyone think Jeff Bezos will every pay 30% of his yearly income to the IRS? 20%? 10%? HOw about 1%?
Easy to scream for higher taxes when you aren't the ones paying those higher taxes.

They don't. They support whatever the opposite of republican ideas are, unless their masters tell them otherwise. There is truly very little logical or practical foundation behind liberal ideology.

Why do these liberal/democrat supporters want to give more of their hard-earned money back to the gov't?
If they vote for politicians who will raise taxes to fund more social programs, they can claim that they are doing their part by paying their taxes as well as going above and beyond by contributing towards others paying (through their vote for Dems).
They think the government is the solution to all the issues we have in the world and taxes are the primary way that altruistic behemoth pays for such generosity.
Cowardly thieves.
