It is a taxation on death. Your envy of the families of wealthy people is noted, by why does the government get a say in where a persons lifetime accumulations go when they pass?
Taxation is meant to be a revenue source for government. Your reasoning makes taxation a device to punish success and freedom out of pettiness and envy.

If this conversation actually happened (spoiler alert, it didn't) your accountant was attempting to use the conservative principle and then blew it out of the water by saying your taxes were doubling. Unless you are doing something crazy or running your own business, there is no way in hell your tax bill is going to double.

Both parties favor the wealthy and both parties want to control the country. They play to different audiences to gain said control. Did rich people become less rich under Obama? The wealth gap keeps increasing no matter which party is in charge. We should more concerned about the state of our culture than some meaningless tax plan.

I didn’t know it was the Democrats who were proposing to raise my middle class taxes to give super rich republican donors a tax break. Whatever.
