What about the tax reform plan's impact on the middle class do Democrats hate so much?

Was it the increase in standard deduction for both single and married filers?
Was it the reduction in marginal rate from 15% to 0% for people earning less than $29,000 or married filers earning up to $58,000?
Are the reduction in the number of tax brackets troubling Democrats?
Is the average of $2900 per middle class household not enough for the champions of the middle class?

The GOP wants to tax 401k contributions.

Are you saying they love the middle class by raising taxes?

The Democratic Party doesn't think you deserve a tax cut.

Simple actually. They're not as dumbed-down and gullible as the people with government umbilicals. Aka: the Democrat voting base.

This is what they are thinking:

WaPo - Middle Class doesn't want or need a tax break

One of the great canards of American politics these days is that the “struggling” middle class needs and wants a tax cut. It doesn’t.

Think I might bump that thread

Yep.

quote:

In September, White House and Republican leaders said tax reform would "aim to maintain or raise retirement plan participation of workers and the resources available for retirement." Reportedly, House Republicans are toying with a $2,400 cap on worker contributions to 401(k) accounts; the current limit is $18,000 (and $24,000 for people over age 50).

The link is a bit old but yep they want to tax it.

The Dems’ appeal is to the highest of the high earners and the low earners getting handouts.

Those in the middle aren’t their friends because they are less likely to buy into class warfare bullshite than the lower classes because they see the ability to move between classes with hard work.

I don't have these details. I'm not an accountant, so we rely on advice from our accountants. And they have told us to prepare for our taxes to increase - perhaps double - with this bill.
