They are different parties. Are they friends or something? Just seems odd

As stated, he didn't pardon him... he commuted his sentence. No doubt Blago was corrupt and did some "bad" stuff, but 14 years was WAY outside the normal sentence of what people get for what he did. 8 years in federal prison was long enough and Trump did the right thing.

So he could watch and laugh at the MSM struggle with pronouncing his name for the next week and a half.

He has been in prison for like 12 years. He has served his time.

No.

Most of the folks pardoned were dems.

re RB: He's holding a presser today. It could be illustrative.

Why should it matter which party he is?

I dont want Trump commuting sentences for people JUST because they are Republicans and not doing so because they are Dems.

I want him doing it on a justice is blind situation.

I think he did it and will keep doing it so prove points that our justice system is flawed at times and doesnt always get it right.

This is absurd. There are plenty of normal Americans he could have chosen from to prove his point. People jailed for life because of three strikes, heavy handed marijuana convictions, self defense claims, things like that.

Instead he chose a corrupt Chicago politician. It’s okay to admit that Trump does stupid shite on occasion, you don’t have to pretend he’s infallible.

8 years...for naked political corruption.

If so how did he end up getting taken down and serving such a long sentence. It appears all these folks that “have dirt” “deadman switches” always end up not using them and get fricked hard.

Come on, please educate yourself:

List of Pardons and Commutations from yesterday

quote:

COMMUTATION

Crystal Munoz

Crystal Munoz was found guilty in 2008 of conspiring to possess with intent to distribute marijuana, according to a petition filed by the Criminal Defense Clinic at the Texas A&M University School of Law. Ms. Munoz, who was sentenced to nearly two decades in prison, drew a map that her friends used in a large marijuana trafficking operation, according to Rolling Stone.

quote:

COMMUTATION

Tynice Nichole Hall

Tynice Nichole Hall was sentenced in 2006 after she was convicted on various drug charges in Lubbock, Texas, according to the Justice Department. The evidence at trial showed that Ms. Hall’s residence was used as a stash house for drugs by her boyfriend, who was the main target of an investigation, according to court documents. The police found large quantities of crack and powder cocaine and loaded firearms in her apartment.

2 of the 11 people he commuted sentences for yesterday are the EXACT type of people you're saying he should grant clemency to.

I don't care what the normal sentence is. Corrupt politicians should go away for life. Maybe then at least a couple politicians will think twice before selling out their office. Unless Blago can somehow help Trump take out other corrupt politicians, I cannot support this commutation.

Commuting a sentence =/= pardon. He is still a convicted felon with all the impairments that come with it. He did more than half his sentence (which by many accounts was excessive). Trump has demonstrated he does not like what he deems unfair outcomes (especially when they appear to be politically motivated).
