Correction. Restored the name used from 1789-1949. DOD is still the official name of the department. Department of War is the secondary name.
The reason? Because the post-World War II strategy of defense and unification that drove the name change to the DOD is a less accurate with the current philosophy.

Did you like it better when obama launched indiscriminate attacks against his perceived enemies and called it defense?
Trump renames it the Department of War and has honorably prosecuted war measures, first successfully against narco-terrorists in Venezuela. And is currently employing War Department assets against Iran to close out a war started by Iran in 1979.

I’m just trying to get people to admit that we’re currently at war with Iran. A war I fully support FYI. Just as I fully support that we’re actually fighting a War on drugs now.

I’ll give VOR credit for this. He’s mostly correct.
On a gut level, the left understands psyops and psychological manipulation way better than the right. They are master manipulators of language.
This is an example of Trump engaging in COUNTER-revolutionary psyop. He’s pushing in the opposite direction of the Overton Window, which is necessary.
The right typically and by conservative instinct tries to stay center right. They intuit that you shouldn’t push too hard or else you’ll upset the apple cart.
This has led to the erosion of institutions and a steady drift to the
Left. Trump is trying to resurrect traditional or historical claims so as to push against the leftist revolution, aka “Hope and Change”.
