This is a prime example of why most will fold. Over half of this country can't survive if they miss a paycheck or 2.

I can miss ONE HUNDRED paychecks financially speaking, and have done all the right things real estate speaking (except invest in a rental property for cash flow).

I'm tired of having to climb and climb and climb to get to this point only to lose a job and have to move and start over from the 3rd or 4th rung of the ladder. I want to be at the top of the ladder (which for me means a $1MM home that's finished and the envy of friends, a sexy wife who is 8-15 years younger than me, a career that I'm proud of, a young family, etc). I was so close to all of these things and it's been ripped away in the past 18 months thanks to George Floyd, the 2020 election and now COVID. I'm kind of tired. I have the strength for one or two more great pushes and the knowledge that I'll likely be a dad of young kids well into my 50's. I'm doing everything in my power to be prepared for this (staying fit, improving myself, staying youthful, working on career like never before, etc.). But this is it - if I frick up I might not reach my goals by the time I'm 50.

I just don't want to have to go all the way back to the 3rd or 4th rung, which is what quitting over the vaccine and moving in with my parents would be doing.

Freaking this! Ive said from the beginning that I respect the individual’s right to choose to be vaccinated or not. I’ve even recommended it for certain family members but I’ve had so many friends/co-workers who caved for convenience-sake that I now feel like I’ll be fighting this fight alone…

Fortunately we live far below our means so I have some runway, but wife is due for a car and we've been putting offers in on houses. I'm probably on the other side of this if our last one closed 3 months ago, so I get it for people.

I keep seeing this, but legally, it seems, not much merit. See post in other thread. Here's the summary after I just spoke with an employment lawyer 5 mins ago:

Attorney - Jim says you are gonna be terminated for no vaccination..
Me - Yes
Attorney - Is it a private company
Me - Yes
Attorney - Did you sign an employment agreement upon hiring
Me - Offer agreement only. No employment agreement
Attorney - You have nothing.
Me - That's why I called. Thanks for your time

How about trying a constitutional atty? Not sure if it would help but worth a shot. But yea if no employment agreement a private company can do what they want. Surprises me tho that they are doing this and taking the left side on it. Really sucks and I feel for you and others. i am fortunate to be retired but am doing all I can to fight and am willing to do anything that can help

Jeff Childers won against the city of Gainesville. So city workers in Florida are safe for now.

Wouldn’t the irony be great if larger companies employees started to unionize and fight these mandates? Never been pro union but in these times they may well in fact be needed again.

With everything that has happened since Trumps election and the people haven’t taken a stand, do you really think they are suddenly going to find any balls now? This country’s courage died after the WWII generation. By the time the populace wakes up, they’ll have it in balls deep.

Childers should go take on a Fortune 50 corporation that’s forcing vaccination or be terminated and make some serious bank.

company who has to fire 20-30% of their productive workforce.... thats a lot of money and hurts their bottom line.

Nationwide the economy can't handle that either. 20-30% of the national workforce being fired? That would no doubt lead to a recession. The economy is already treading on fragile ground right now.

I’m surprised some unionized companies the rank and file haven’t called for a strike….maybe being union workers they are good little leftist foot soldiers?

What difference does that make. If you’re attempting to prove my comment wrong this line does nothing to attempt that.
Your line of question definitely seems like a deflection to draw attention away from the obvious.

But, if you are threatened with termination what will you do?

I work for myself, so this is not an issue.

I agree.

Maybe you are different, I hope so, but most would cave.

I'm pretty fricking hard headed, if that's what you're asking. But I also understand that not everyone CAN make that same decision. I don't fault ANYONE for doing what they think they have to do. But if they CAN take a stand and won't, then that's an entirely different situation.

quote:

Why get the jab in April? The government was just as corrupt then as now and any prudent and observant person knew where this was going.

I was always 50/50 on the vaccine. I was likely not going to ever take it in late March when I had my annual doctor's visit, but she suggested I take it. I've known her for about a decade and trust her opinion. But even then I was open here that despite having decided to take it for my own personal reasons, I'd never show the card (this was before any real talk of digital passport bullshite) to anyone to prove it to them. I took it for ME, not to be able to go to a restaurant or a sporting event or a movie. That's absurd.

quote:

Until you let them fire you for refusing to show your card, IMHO, these are just idle words. Prove your mantra, burn that darn card. Until then, whatever.

As I said, my "stand" such as it is isn't work related. For that matter, neither is it for my wife who works for a company of less than 100 people. The best support I can offer is to refuse to patronize business or provide to any government official vaccine proof and tell you and anyone else honestly that'll I'll never back down on that. I can tell you that if I WAS in the position of it effecting my job and I COULD financially make that decision it would be the same, but I agree...not being in that position makes it easy to say and ultimately meaningless.

Sure, I could give up my integrity and show a fricking vaccine card to go places but it would be against everything I believe in, so I'll refuse to patronize any business that enforces this mandate.

Fricking hero, and I’m not being sarcastic.

I can’t tell you how disappointed I was when loved ones blithely went along with this and patronized businesses that were discriminating against me.
