I would have been upset for a once in a lifetime dinner (Clemson players may have already been / will go again but I digress) and have shitty fast food served. I only eat McDonalds/Wendys/BK maybe once a year and always feel like shite afterwards. I would expect similar responses from both types of fanatics if the roles were reversed during the Obama era.

This is the earliest a national champion has ever visited the White House. Makes you wonder what the rush was and why it couldn't wait until after the shut down.

I mean, it was a political ploy. It may have been a funny one and enjoyable for all sides, but the circumstances were likely orchestrated, or at least, they probably could have been avoided.
Agreed.

I think it was pretty shitty looking to order fast food, but your level concern with this is beyond what it needs to be
That could be true. But the part that bugs me is that he made such a big deal about paying for it. That was pretty cheesy.

If he bought steaks - "How dare her rub this in the poor federal employees' faces!"

If he used white house money - "How dare he waste taxpayer money during a shutdown!"

Uses his own money to purchase a modest meal - "What a slap in the face to those poor college kids. How cheap!"

Like when Obama served hot dogs at a Super Bowl party?

I said this last night and I will say it again.

Had Trump used a mom and pop service the Libs would have Mueller going after them as it was some quid pro quo deal and the SJW's would hound that business for catering to Orange Man.
That's a valid point, but wouldn't it have been a better look if he himself put on a chef apron and grilled them himself or with the help of employed government workers who were laid off or not receiving pay?

What are they going to do since he used McDonald's, Burger King and Wendy's? Are they going to go after all of those places?
Again, it's a bad look. Falling back on major corporations too big to fail. Isn't this the sleazy crony capitalistic swamp that Trump was "elected" to break up?

Pal. Just like yesterday, you are ignoring the fact that moms and pops are local franchisees. Come on, man. I know you don’t like it...but that is how it works.

I considered that but elite athletes probably have a better diet than the average college student. I realize this doesn't apply to all of them (DL, OL, etc.) but I think this still holds true for more than a few. Again, not the big deal many are making it out to be. I'm just saying that if I were in the position, I would be disappointed.

You want him to grill for 200 ppl? Plus I doubt Trump even knows how to light a grill at this point in his life.

That might have looked worse since people are claiming this is a political stunt anyway.

I think reasonable people would admit Trump did this as a stunt and that no matter what he did media/the left would have found a way to criticize it (which is why he does stunts like this in the first place).

Eh there is so much we have no clue about what went down. For starters, why did they do it so soon after? Was that at Clemson's request? If that's the case, it is fairly reasonable they were told hey we don't have the ability to cook a meal so what would you want instead, and they just said fast food. Nobody knows for certain, but that isn't an unreasonable scenario based on the circumstances.

If it was all on trump, then yes it was a stunt with Trump knowing no matter what he does, it would get bad publicity. If he caters out a 5* meal for them, then the news will blast him for spending all this money when he could be paying his employees, yada yada yada. So he went the opposite route.
