Well hell, we might as well quit worrying about crime as a whole. No need to have those pesky police officers disrupting communal life, which can drain social control of group-level violence. Citizens are arrested, unauthorized markets are disrupted, and people lose their jobs, all of which create more localized stress on individuals already living on the edge.
So basically turn a blind eye to crime, right? That will improve the situation?
What is your solution to this "problem"?

Ok it sorta proves your point. If police don’t take time to enforce small petty crimes for some reason major crimes also fall.
But again how does this disprove the data I posted. When terrorist alert levels rise crime goes down.
What your article seems to prove is that better allocation of police resources leads to less crime. Instead of having police enforce small crimes they focus on bigger crimes. I could actually get behind this. But how does that prove that less cops on the street means less crime. All it proves is that focusing on more serious crime leads to less crime overall.
But again how does this disprove the data I posted. When terrorist alert levels rise crime goes down.

Because crime is tracked by arrest statistics and calls. Most people aren’t going to call the police if they think they might see a drug deal on the street. Obviously high level crime will receive calls. But if you took all police off the streets then they’re would be virtually 0 recorded data for low level crime. All I’m saying is if you want to do a drug deal or something similar and a cop is in the parking lot across the street all you have to do is go a few blocks over

How much dealing (per volume) is done on the street vs out of certain houses?
Not just crack houses. Cops can figure out when someone is probably dealing weed out of a back room in a nice neighborhood just because of the level of traffic they get.

There is not cut all solution to the crime problem. There will always be crime no matter what. However the USA has done a hell of a job creating more crime. There’s a reason we have the highest incarceration rate in the world
