I have switched more and more to Apple over time because I like the products and the privacy over Android. However, I will be shifting back to Android, unfortunately.

Android allows self-hosted apps through Android Application Package (APKs) which helps create a work around for apps that get banned. Apple does not.

Apple also limits features within apps as they please and do not allow app creators to tell their users that the app has richer features on android.

Also, Apple takes a 30% commission all of profits from the app, so any premium style business model (which may be very important in the future for companies competing with these monopolies) becomes very difficult.

I hate to say it, but yeah, the recent events have convinced me that I cannot support Apple products any more. I know, I know. There have always been issues, but Apple products have always been very good to me.

Closed source programming. Big fan of swapping out everything I can and replacing with stuff on f-droid.

Does it really matter?

When it comes to current political/social issues, they're both in cahoots and will work together to ensure you submit and comply via both platforms

You can self load apps on iOS. It takes a little more work but it’s possible. You just need to self sign the .ipa. You can get a free dev account you can use to self sign .ipa for up to 7 days at a time.

I don't have a problem with them wanting 30% from the app owners. Without the device and os the app owner wouldn't have a marketplace for the app.

Add to that apple uses slave labor.

apple is making it impossible to repair their products when simple components break.

security and privacy is a lie. DS companies are there only for what is going on now... censorship and tracking everything about you.
