I think you've answered your own question. The largely liberally controlled news media will attack with quickness anyone who is publicly out of step with their agenda. China probably got a pass because the did everything possible to avoid controversy but certainly the air quality/environment was an issue leading to the games in China.

Kinda the way I feel. But watching NBC coverage and Meet the Press, you'd think the guy was Adolf Hitler. They even had the nerve to bitch that the US Ambassador's conversations were under surveillance. Such hypocrisy.

I like the Ruskies; they have metal. And passion. And smarts. I'd like to see our relationship with them be better; though we will remain Ideological and Economic competitors in many instances. Fundamentalist Islam is our common enemy; I suspect Putin will set the bar in dealing with Islam. They learned a lesson in Afghanistan; they won't take that road again.

1. The Russian viewers are starting to get embarrassed by the broadcast bias.
2. I think it would be fun if US announcers were allowed to personally attack players. Just think, Boston's Big Poppy comes up to bat against the Yankees.
Yankee announcer says: "Wow, Big Poppy is sure packing on the pounds. I wonder when was the last time he could look down and see his penis."
