I'm sorry, but I don't speak ghetto. Could you translate that into English, please? Thank you.

LaToya ran on a "speaking truth to power" platform
In non jive that means I'll tell whites to frick off

I thought that was one of those green energy, renewable resource things.

Not long until the productive class leaves New Orleans proper a la much of Memphis. In many ways, though, I feel this is the fault of New Orleans' upper crust. I get that they think their private schools are great and all, and that crime doesn't effect their neighborhoods, but having to pay through the nose for what much of the rest of the country takes for granted is no way to attract outsiders to your city. It's the same way in Baton Rouge.
The only way to turn the tide of crappy Democratic mayors is to attract more tax-paying outsiders to your city. And you're never going to do that until you fix crime and education.

Yep. A lot of those types enjoy being the big fish in the little pond. They'll be able to enjoy the inevitable property taxes coming from LaToya.

It doesn't make any sense

Well, this picture pretty much says it all when it comes to what anybody needs to know about the city of New Orleans.

At least Cantrell was more open and honest about it... Charbonnet is from the Morial school of corruption.

The theory for some has been that there’s nothing to do but get away from a deteriorating city, watch it implode, then reclaim it and build it back up afterwards.
But look at Detroit. The collapse is done and there will be no redemption. The same political crowd that presided over the collapse is reigning over the smoldering debris.

Yeah I'm going to shut my money printing practice down and move to Shreveport.

I dont, I've improved my home but its essentially doubled in value in 12 years.
At the end of the day it really doesnt matter who the mayor is, the gentry have always run New Orleans and always will.

While I don't doubt what you're saying, LaToya is from a very different mold than the last forty years of mayors.

Well, she is more white than Mitch, thats a fact.

She's the first to run on a social activism campaign-she is far more dangerous than someone like Mitch or Nagin. They were looking to line pockets, she's looking for something much different.

Like what? gonna kick all the white people out? please. Compared to Mitch's activism she will be a moderate. She knows where the money comes from.

Property taxes
Horribly inept city hall
Rent control
AirBnB regulations
just off the top of my head
Cantrell is also not beholden to power brokers, she won off the poor black vote. Charbonnet boat raced her with white votes AND had the black political machine
LaToya will be SWB on steroids

Still miss the food though, but that’s about it.

We will wait and see what the breakdown is but young whites were what put Cantrell over the top, she also took a shite ton of uptown money from people that had been fricked over by the Charbonnet's.

I think she's going to be a disaster, mate

Its funny how the progressive cities end up with the more activist politicians... Other places need the truth spoken to their power much more than NOLA
