The entitlement part isn't them not wanting to buy in a shitty neighborhood, it's the notion that they are entitled to buy no matter what. Period.

If they can't afford a home in a neighborhood they like, then they don't get to buy a home yet. Instead, they have to save for a while, sacrifice, delay gratification for a while - you know, like every-f'n-body else in the past had to do.

You seem to be missing the obvious.

The options are to buy a home, rent a place, or live with someone else who bought/rents a place.

There are still gutters. Roofs. Lawns. None of those options avoid that.

The question that matters is " is there upward mobility?"
Does the person living in a home sell and move into a better home?
Does the person renting buy that other home?
Does the person living with someone else who bought/rents save money to improve their standing?

There is no crisis.
We are in a bubble from 2022.
Bubbles have happened forever.
They are real and legitimate and make upward mobility more challenging.

But they aren't a crisis.
People still end up moving into better homes. People still end up moving out of their parents home.
There are still about 1M first time homebuyers a year.

And when the bubble corrects (hopefully through wage growth without significant housing expense inflation), things will get easier.

The fact that the 2022 home price growth hasn't continued every year should indicate the reality that this isn't a crisis.

Does every individual / single person deserve a house that they want that is affordable to them?

How much of your life have you spent cutting grass? Ballpark number of hours / days.

And for what really? Mainly so someone could sell you a lawnmower and all the other yard stuff that follows on. Your yard could be maintenance free clover of similar, but someone convinced you that high maintenance grass was preferable. Why?
