There are two vault different polio viruses.

The one used in the United States is the inactive polio vaccine. You can't get polio from the inactive vaccine.

The other is an attenuated vaccine. This is a weakened vaccine. This is what the oral polio vaccine is.

These vaccines are preferred by some because, if I remember correctly. These people can pass the virus to others, and since it is a weakened virus, they should have no problem.

There are rare problems with the attenuated virus. They sometimes are not attenuated enough and can cause symptoms. And I believe that even the attenuated virus can sometimes cause issues in extremely immunocompromised.

Now hiv is a large problem in Africa.

I'm not sure if these kids are hiv positive. I'm not sure of quality control messed up and didn't attenuate enough.

These are known complications from the attenuated virus.

Sounds more like a Sudan thing than a polio vaccine thing.

Once BLM turns the USA into "New Wakanda" we won't need no vaccines. At least there won't be any available.
Anti Vaxers will be happy.

Same reason HDC isn't being pushed to fight the beer bug.

Since 2000, we have used only the latter in the US, but the former is still used in many places.
The oral vaccine is live-attenuated.

These sort of complications separate past vaccines from the two US CV19 vaccines in Phase3. Neither of these early US CV19 vaccines use virus at all. Ones still in the pipeline do.

The “live virus” vaccine is the problem, but it costs a small faction of the cost of the “inactive virus” vaccine. Thus, it is possible to vaccinate FAR more people, assuming that funding is not unlimited.

My father tells a story of helping my great grandfather treat a cow for clover bloat one cold winter day in the 1950s. With all the wisdom of a typical teenager, Dad advised his grandfather that they should kill all the clover before the following winter. My great grandfather responded “Boy, that clover’ll save more than it kills.”. Same pasture today (70 years later) ... it still does. You accept a few getting sick, to prevent starvation of an entire herd.

There are a great many of diseases your average doctor might not have first hand experience in treating. That doesn’t mean they haven’t been taught about them and trained to diagnose and treat them

So clearly they are using live virus in some of these vaccines but not all. You can win some easy money likely betting that a shitty pharmaceutical went cheap on the vaccine leading to this issue.
