Friends from church and I had this conversation last night over beers. Last spring there was a blatantly obvious point in time where men said “ok” and didn’t want to cause an issue at home so went along with BLM and embraced wokeism. Last few years my wife and I had some knock down drag out fights over Trump and race/political issues. Trump wasn’t the issue, it was media disinformation and the left hitching it’s wagon to social issues that shouldn’t have been left/right but were made to be. It sucked and ended up with us going to bed angry a few times… but, we were able to work through it and come to the knowledge that we both wanted the same thing and that having some compassion has to be balanced with hard rules and tough love, and Vice versa. It put an end to a lot of the woke nonsense her friends are still posting to this day from her. She also was able to step back and see that her friends were being as hateful as they perceived the other side to be. I was willing to have the fight and my marriage is better for it.

I’m very sensitive to race issues and want to work towards reconciliation, peace, and (Biblical) justice. What happened last summer helped none of those things.
