The one thing that I don't think they really thought through is that BECAUSE she only has "hearsay evidence," she will be required to name all the people that illegally leaked this "information" (wrong as it may have been) to her.
There is no "trial" or hearing just based on hearsay.
And,those deep state leakers will be exposed and should be arrested immediately.
If she refuses to name names, this entire sham goes away.

Desperation. They are trying so desperately to hide her identity because as you said, it's a house of cards. Literally everyone she fingers will be connected to her and the CIA. She can't name names yet she will be forced to name names once her identity is revealed, and it will be revealed.
It all won't matter. It's way worse that she changed the rules mid-game to clear a path for herself.

You keep hearing the DNC/MSM talking points about about how the leaking traitor's (wb's) story has been deemed by some CIA inspector to be "credible."
Well, it would seem that the only way for this person's story to be credible is if he/she provided the CIA inspector with those names.
If that's true, even if he/she refuses to testify, there should be some way to access those names and get them out of the White House and any federal bureaucracy they work for.

This reminds me of the Alton Sterling case when Attorney General Loretta Lynch ordered that the toxicology report be sealed up. Just like that case, the only reason Schiff wants to keep the identity of the whistleblower anonymous is because people would find out how partisan the WB really is.

I’m just repeating what I heard on the news. The whistleblower fears for their safety and a $50,000 reward has been offered for the identity of the WB.

You make a good point, but the rules of evidence in preparation for a trial are not a concern here. The Dems don’t want an impeachment trial because they already know they can’t win it in the Senate and it exposes a lot of vulnerable Representatives. They want headlines from the legacy media to sully Trump in the lead up to the election. If the WH testifies she’ll keep the names of the leakers anonymous. The MSM will laud her integrity and high minded ideals while they continue to trash Trump. Meanwhile, all the of real problems in the country will remain unaddressed by the government while the Dems and the legacy media consume all the air in the room.
