No, I can’t be mad at a grown man who uses the words Kilary and pedo Joe. I mostly feel sorry for you.

Im not avoiding it. I’m trying to argue the OP is a big nothingburger clickbait when the document is pretty clear to anyone that can read and knows anything about how settlements are structured…including you.

On your second point, we can argue the merits of having the DOJ report to the Executive. God knows we’ve seen how that’s been abused over the decades.

To the matter at hand though, since it’s pretty much a fact that the IRS intentionally leaked Trumps returns and probably wouldn’t be hard to prove reputational damage because of it, which was the intent, why wouldn’t a prudent defendant want to settle this claim before litigation?

The issue is that isolated claim, which was fricked up 100%, is far smaller than "Lawfare and/or Weaponization" which makes the language very overbroad, as now the government is precluded from all sorts of behaviors that aren't related to this isolated claim.

Griffin, founder of the hedge fund Citadel, did not receive any money as part of the settlement. He dropped his previous demand for $1,000-per-unauthorized disclosure in damages that’s allowed under the law.
The settlement ends an 18-month court fight in which Griffin argued the agency was ultimately responsible for the disclosures.
Littlejohn, who was convicted of giving Trump’s and other wealthy people’s private tax information to ProPublica and the New York Times, has said he hoped to spark a public debate over income inequality.
More than 150 people, including Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk and Michael Bloomberg, had their private tax information published in the news media as a result of the leak.
In January, Littlejohn was sentenced to five years in prison. He is appealing the sentence.
In court, the government had countered Griffin’s suit by arguing it was not responsible, in part because Littlejohn had said he acted alone.

If this even begins to make up for the unprecedented witch-hunt against Trump

This is “I’m in a cult” rhetoric. You were brainwashed with it.

When bad guys break laws, accountability will catch up to them. The good guys will catch the bad guys eventually.

Feel free to explain it to me that doesn’t start with the flawed premise of “but Daddy is owed it”

I agree that’s totally ambiguous and who knows what it means or how it will be litigated.

So what we really have is a settlement agreement to close the lawsuit and for that one item is worded poorly. Not some hyperbolic OMG Trump Crime family smoking gun.

Now, I don’t know how it was supposed to work but we really need a more independent DOJ. We’re beyond the point of relying on honorable men in govt to do the right thing unfortunately. The AG and DOJ have turned in the cleaners for govt under the direction of the controlling Executive and that’s a really bad thing and has been going on for a while.

Hahaha that’s as blatant as it gets. There is no moral high ground.

If any Democrat tried to pull this crap this board would melt TF down and talk of arming themselves and taking care of business…
